Welcome Back, Coach Reese Ness! đ
Arlington Baptist University Athletics is excited to welcome back Coach Reese Ness as the newest Assistant Volleyball Coach and Sports Information Director.
A proud ABU alumna and 2025 graduate, Reese returns to the ABU volleyball Program after a collegiate career under Head Coach Kristi McDaniel from 2021â2025. During her time as a Patriot, Reese was a part of the 2024 NCCAA DII National Championship team.
Originally from East Texas and a graduate of Gilmer High Schoolâs Class of 2021, Reese chose Arlington Baptist University to continue both her academic and volleyball career. Since then, she has built valuable experience both on and off the court through years of coaching and leadership.
In her new role as Assistant Volleyball Coach, Reese brings a strong understanding of the programâs culture, a passion for player development both athletically and spiritually, and firsthand experience competing at the collegiate level. In addition to coaching, she will also serve as Sports Information Director, bringing her knowledge and creativity to ABU Athletics.

Weâre excited to have Coach Samantha Griffeth leading and investing in student-athletes at Arlington Baptist University!
Coach Griffeth brings years of experience in player development, recruiting guidance, and competitive coaching at the select, high school, and collegiate levels. A former member of the 2001 UIL Class 3A State Championship softball team at Sanger High School, she has continued to build a career centered around developing athletes both on and off the field.
Throughout her coaching career, Coach Griffeth has helped athletes reach the collegiate level through private instruction, mentorship, and recruiting advocacy across the DFW Metroplex. She also helped lead Founders Classical Academy to a basketball state championship and a volleyball state semifinal appearance in 2015, while guiding the softball program to its first state tournament appearance in school history.
In addition to her coaching success, Coach Griffethâs personal story reflects faith, perseverance, and purpose after overcoming a life-threatening battle with COVID pneumonia and a pulmonary embolism in 2021. Her journey continues to inspire the athletes and families she impacts every day.
âCoaching is about so much more than wins and losses,â said Griffeth. âItâs about building relationships, developing character, and helping student-athletes become the person God created them to be both on and off the field. Iâm honored for the opportunity to continue pouring into the next generation at ABU.â
Arlington Baptist Softball looks forward to continued growth under Coach Griffethâs leadership and passion for developing champions in competition, faith, and life.
