Thanks to our partnership with the Immigrant & Refugee Outreach Center, two kids from Afghan families will have their very own bikes to explore their new community and experience the joy of riding with.
These bikes were fixed up as a labor of love by our Earn-a-Bike students, volunteers and staff. We’re so grateful for the opportunity to help out our new community members!
Our teachers became the students in the shop today📝
We have plans in the works for restarting our Advanced Mechanics program for Earn-a-Bike graduates who want to become true bike mechanic pros!💯
Noe and Liam held class for our bike club instructors to show them the ropes as we prepare to relaunch the program this spring.🚲🔧
Please join us in giving a warm welcome to our newest team member, Robbie Deaton!🎊
Robbie joined us this week as our new program coordinator, and is already getting his hands dirty in the shop and helping with students. Over the next few months, he’ll be getting an extra special extended training period before taking over the role from Liam when he leaves for college in June.
Robbie graduated from NC State University with a B.S. in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management, and has extensive experience working with youth and teaching backpacking, rock climbing, and paddling sports. Combine that with his passion for bikes, and we knew that we had found ourselves a stand-out candidate for the job.
Welcome to Phoenix, Robbie!👏🎉
Rain, rain, go away!🌧
Due to the rainy weather we're getting this Friday and the cold and windy temperatures on Saturday, the mountain bike ride for this Saturday, February 5 is cancelled.
If you had your heart set on hitting the trails with us, have no fear! We have plans to reschedule, so keep an eye out for announcements about our next mountain bike ride.🚵♀️
📸Snapshots from the shop📸
One of our favorite volunteers and bike club instructors, Bob, shows a student how to check whether a wheel is true. We’re true-ly grateful for the help of our talented instructors!🚲⚙️
We love to see a packed Earn-a-Bike orientation!👀🚲
Orientations happen every Wednesday from 5-6, and are welcome to all teens 12-17 years old who fill out a registration form at
https://www.phoenixbikes.org/youth-programs/ 📝 After you go to orientation, you can show up any time the shop is open to start your Earn-a-Bike adventure!🔧🚲
