All are welcome to wrench in the shop with us at our new-and-improved adult volunteer nights in the shop! Basic bike maintenance training will be provided to all of our volunteers, new and returning. You can start the training at any of our volunteer nights and complete the program at your own pace.

If you're interested in wrenching in the shop with us at our Tuesday Night Volunteer Nights, you can sign up for our February volunteer nights and (for new volunteers) fill out our Adult Volunteer Registration Form at the link in our bio.

Congratulations to the graduates of our Washington-Liberty class!🎓 With the last few youth wrapping up the final touches on their bikes, we’re pumped to see our students rolling out the door on their new rides.

Another fun Arlington Trails/ Phoenix Bikes MTB ride. On this chilly January day, we had our biggest group to date. It’s been almost a year since we started driving a group to the trails. Word is getting out in Arlington that MTB is another fun way to get out on our bikes.

After school bike clubs are rolling full speed ahead as our students work on their Earn-a-Bikes!🔧 in just a few weeks they’ll put the final adjustments on their bikes and take them out for a celebration ride!🚲

We're rolling out for another mountain bike ride adventure with this Sat, Jan 21!🚵‍♀️

We're thrilled to report that we exceeded our fundraising goals with the help of YOU, our amazing supporters. We're pumped to roll into the new year with exciting plans to continue expanding our programs and impacting local youth through bikes!

All youth in grades 6-12 are welcome to roll by our shop any time we're open to start the Earn-a-Bike program on their own time. Getting started is as easy as 1, 2, 3!

The cold weather has settled in for the winter, and there's never been a better time for hot chocolate!🍫 Meet us at the shop this Saturday (1/14) at 10:00am for a ride to Swing's Coffee in Old Town Alexandria to satisfy your sweet tooth and warm up with some hot cocoa. If riders are feeling adventurous, we may extend the ride to National Harbor.

If the ride is cancelled, we will post an announcement on our stories on Friday afternoon.

The first week of the new year brought us the newest addition to our team. Please help us welcome our fantastic Education Program Manager, Leslie!🎉

Leslie graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a masters in public management, and has experience spanning from teaching 5th grade science to managing nonprofit programs. After becoming a volunteer with us last May, she was pumped to continue her six years of experience in the mentoring sphere by taking on her new role.

We couldn't be more thrilled to have Leslie join us as we roll into 2023!

When Suhieb started our Earn-a-Bike program last spring, he thought this moment—the day he earned his very own bike—was the finish line for his time at Phoenix. But after learning about our paid shop internship and Team Phoenix, he jumped at the chance to experience the professional growth, lifelong memories, and exciting new challenges that these programs offered.

We decided to take advantage of students being off on winter break to do a test-run of our Advanced Mechanics class. In just a few days Jas and Bob have expertly led students through complex mechanical concepts like repairing bent frames and dropouts, radial truing and dishing wheels, and more!

After seeing the success of the pilot program, we're pumped to relaunch the official Advanced Mechanics program this spring to help our students take their mechanics skills to the next level!🔧⚙️

Waffling🧇 over what to do with your final days of winter break? Join us this weekend for a Saturday youth ride over to the Waffle Shop in Del Ray! Meet us at the shop at 10am for a fun 7-mile round-trip ride, and a yummy breakfast at this well-loved local institution.

We're keeping an eye on the weather forecast, and will post an announcement on our story on Friday afternoon if we have to cancel the ride.

Just as a reminder, we will be closed for Christmas Eve tomorrow (12/24) to let our wonderful team spend time with their families. Jackson spent part of his winter break in our shop fixing up his Earn-a-Bike—and you can too! Phoenix youth are welcome to take advantage of their time off by wrenching on bikes with us this holiday season.🔧🚲

One of Suhieb's favorite parts about being an intern was that he learned something new each and every day he came into the shop. Suhieb recalls that during his internship he saw a huge improvement in his communication skills, and that "it felt kind of awesome" when he was able to master new advanced mechanical concepts. In his words, every new accomplishment made him "want to learn more and more things."

We're pumped to have our Gunston Middle School and Dorothy Hamm Middle School bike clubs follow their lead and join us in the shop after their winter break wraps up.

Since coming to Phoenix, Suhieb hasn't once shied away from a challenge—in fact, whenever he gets stuck on a hard mechanical concept or doesn’t perform to his standards in a cyclocross race, he uses it as an opportunity to dig in and improve his skills. We're inspired by his hardworking nature!

Team Phoenix wrapped up the fall cyclocross season last Sunday at the Capital ‘Cross Classic! We were thrilled to see some of our supporters come out to help cheer on our youth as they crossed the finish line on a fantastic season.

Due to the rain, we will not be having a Saturday Youth Ride tomorrow, December 3, but next weekend youth can join us on a ride to Pitango Gelato on December 10 to get some hot cocoa that should keep away the cold! Temperatures were low but spirits were high at Falkorourg CX last Sunday! Team Phoenix loved the super fun course, and we had a blast braving the cold with fellow cycling enthusiasts.
