THE ROOTS OF BLACK HISTORY MONTH

On this day February 7, 1926, Carter G. Woodson, initiated the first celebration of Negro History Week which eventually led to Black History Month.

Carter G. Woodson was a smart dude! He received his Ph.D from Harvard University back in 1912 and in 1915 he founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History to encourage scholars to engage in the intensive study of the black past.

Prior to this work, the field had been largely neglected or distorted in the hands of historians who accepted the traditionally biased picture of blacks in American and world affairs. In 1916 Woodson edited the first issue of the association’s principal scholarly publication, The Journal of Negro History, which, under his direction, remained an important historical periodical for more than 30 years.

Just call him the God Father of Black History Month.

THE GREENSBORO 4️⃣🖤❤️💛💚

62 Years ago on this very day… 2-1-1960

The Greensboro Four: Ezell Blair Jr., David Richmond, Franklin McCain and Joseph McNeil. All four were students from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical College.

The Greensboro sit-in was a civil rights protest that started in 1960, when young African American students staged a sit-in at a segregated Woolworth’s lunch counter in Greensboro, North Carolina, and refused to leave after being denied service. The sit-in movement soon spread to college towns throughout the South. Though many of the protesters were arrested for trespassing, disorderly conduct or disturbing the peace, their actions made an immediate and lasting impact, forcing Woolworth’s and other establishments to change their segregationist policies.

This is the month in which we will tell stories both past and present of what our people had to go through and what they accomplished in spite of this obstacles. May we continue to overcome the wounds of our generational trauma that we all collectively share. Instead let us use it as motivation to carry the legacy of chasing excellence and being proud of our resilient spirit.

We’re not even close to where we ought to be but we’re still closer than we’ve ever been. Keep fighting ✊🏾

HOW TO MAKE THE WORLD’S GREATEST STRETCH EVEN GREATER‼️

Add some weight to dat ish! Lol nah seriously though, start with some light dumbbells and see how heavy you can go without losing proper form.

This move targets everything from your ankles and hamstrings to your hips, spine, shoulders and glutes. Adding weights just create more demand on stability and total body strength.

Hold each position for 5-10 sec per side for 3-4 Sets and focus on being like a statue.

BUILD QUALITY MUSCLE 💪🏽 IN 2022

I’ve perfected my CCFIT MUSCLE Program on myself, my personal clients, several HS Athletes and even ran it as a 2x/week program for GPP Populations when I owned the gym.

I’m a DATA/Tech guy so I like to have tangible evidence to measure if programs work and this one has provided RESULTS repeatedly!

This is designed as 4-day/week strength training program that changes every 4-weeks. The primary objective is to build lean muscle, core stability and overall strength for anyone of any fitness level.

However, you do need access to a full gym or a pretty nice home gym setup to follow as prescribed. And if you click the CCFIT Muscle link in my bio you will see exactly what items you need.

Also if you swipe 👆🏽⬅️ I’m giving you Free Screen Shot of Monday and Tuesday of this program WEEKS 1-4 so you can get an idea of what it looks like.

Commit 4 months to this and I promise you’ll be happy come May.

ANOTHER CHEAP TOOL YOU NEED IN YOUR AT-HOME FITNESS BUCKET 🪣

My main goal with these posts is to motivate those who need low barrier to entry options and education on how they can still achieve quality fitness results with limited resources and/or space.

I think this is an under-serviced area of fitness education but so many people think they need money, time, gym memberships etc to achieve better physical health and that’s not true.

You just need to start moving and using tools that are inexpensive, easily accessible so that you can eliminate excuses.

Covid came through and destroyed people of color and people in lower income brackets because they might not have access to tools or knowledge about how to achieve success.

I just want to help give options to those struggling to get started and those looking for simple solutions.

This ‘suspension trainer’ is low cost and I posted this same video on my YouTube page if you want to like and subscribe (Link in bio). You will also find the link to purchase this item so you can add it to your at-home fitness 🪣

Good Luck! And I will keep providing resources and content to help EVERYONE achieve low barrier to entry Fitness resources in 2022!

CORE STABILITY

My client Kristen reached out to me after recovering from a back injury she had suffered earlier in the year. It required physical therapy and she was a little apprehensive of working on on her own again without proper guidance.

I’ve been really helping her focus on building core stability and strength along the posterior chain (the entire back of the body). She’s been doing great and working hard!

What’s even cooler is that her and I went to high school together! It’s so awesome to be able to reconnect with people and also help new people regain their confidence through fitness. 💪🏽

If you’re bouncing back from injury or need guidance I have Corrective Exercise Specialization which allows me to identify muscular imbalances and help with injury prevention.

3️⃣ Benefits Of 1-on-1 Personal Training

1️⃣ Get the Right Form
To get the maximum benefit from your workouts, you need the right form.
Unless you’re staring in a mirror during your entire workout, it’s hard to know if your form is right or not. And even with a mirror, there might be things that you miss about your form.
A personal trainer will be able to correct your form as needed and help you get the most from your workouts.

2️⃣ Customizable Workouts
Every person is unique, and you might have unique requirements or restrictions that only a personal trainer can effectively help you with.
For example, you might have a fear of using certain machines or equipment that your trainer can help you with or work around. Or, you might have an old injury and need exercises that will take that into consideration.
Your personal trainer’s job is making training personal. That means taking into account all the things that make you unique, and designing the workout around that.

3️⃣ Set Goals Effectively
A personal trainer will help you set realistic, achievable goals and push you to reach them.
On your own, it’s hard to know what goals are good for you. You may want to see progress right away, and get discouraged when you don’t.
A personal trainer helps you make a plan that works for you and stick with it, keeping you motivated even when it seems difficult. They’ll help you know what you need to do to reach your goals faster, so you avoid doing excess, ineffective work.

Friday Fitness Tip 👇🏽

Use this trick to activate those hip abductors before your squat.

This move especially helps me prime my hip abductors. These muscles are closely related to the core muscles and are crucial for balance and athletic activity.

This is also a great exercise if you are someone that suffers from Knee valgus. Knee valgus refers to when the knees cave inward, giving a “knock-kneed” appearance. This usually happens on heavier lifts and is a sign of muscular imbalances somewhere in the chain.

I promise it will help you no matter who you are. Even if your form is ideal, it will make it even better.

Enjoy! Here’s to happy squatting 💪🏽 on leg day 🦵🏽

Slowly climbing back into it…

Felt good to hit a WOD for the first time in almost 4 weeks. Just have not been as motivated. It happens to the best of us, but the key is to just slowly work your way back into it. It’s like riding a 🚲 at this point!

Can’t wait to see next Sunday… They definitely got me through this one.

Try it: 💪🏽🫁😮‍💨
“On Repeat”
Every 2:30 (10x)
10 Double DB Hang Pwr Clean (50/35)
30 Double Unders
200m Row

If you’re at home swap out the row for a run 🏃🏾‍♂️💨

Want to follow my exact workouts??? 👇🏽

If you need access to daily workouts 7x/week I got you. Full equipment, minimal equipment and even a no equipment option. Just hit the “CCFIT DAILY PROGRAMMING” tab via the Link in my bio

OR…

Shoot me a DM if you want a FREE full week example.
