Right on Rangers

Cavalli struck out 11. Texas struck out 13 times, had four hits and got shut out 6-0. The Rangers are 62-65 and out of the final Wild Card spot.

Also on the pod: Rocker vs. Cal Q, Jung/Foscue, the one-tool roster problem and deGrom’s pitch leash. 🎧

Cade Cavalli struck out 11 in six scoreless innings as Washington shut out Texas 6-0 and knocked the Rangers out of the American League’s third Wild Card spot. Texas finished with four hits, Corey Seager had two of them, and Kumar Rocker allowed two runs over five before the bullpen let the game.....

Texas trails Washington 6-0 in the seventh after Cade Cavalli completely shut down the Rangers lineup.

Cavalli threw six scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts, allowing only three hits and one walk. Corey Seager has two of those three Texas hits, with Evan Carter accounting for the other.

Kumar Rocker kept this within reach at 2-0 after five innings, allowing six hits and two runs with three strikeouts. Washington added another run against Cole Winn in the sixth before Andrés Chaparro's three-run homer in the seventh turned a 3-0 game into a six-run hole.

One night after Texas opened the homestand with a clean 5-0 win, the script has completely flipped.

What bothers you more tonight: Cavalli carving this lineup up for 11 strikeouts, or the bullpen turning a manageable game into 6-0?

Good news, though, y’all! We’ll probably get Tarps Off for the next three innings to make this 6-0 game all better…

Was Kumar lights out tonight? No.

Should anyone be blaming him for this deficit when there’s a pool noodle offense hitting behind him? Also no.

Seager on a heater. He now has 6 hits in his last 3 games and is 9 for his last 22 (.409 AVG).

Good stuff from Evan Carter in the 2nd.

Would love to see the team get him in motion more often and utilize that elite speed. Dude is 14/16 in SB attempts this year despite reaching 1B roughly 80 times. Feels like a huge missed opportunity.

Don’t let Rocker throw a scoreless 1st…

Texas scored 11 runs in one inning against Houston without hitting a home run.

On August 19, 2013, the Rangers sent 15 batters to the plate in the third, and the outburst was the highest-scoring inning by any MLB team that season. Texas eventually rolled to a 16-5 win.

Every Rangers hitter scored. Houston mostly just participated.

Cal Quantrill has a 2.64 ERA as a starter this year. At some point, that has to change how we talk about this Rangers rotation.

deGrom and Eovaldi have earned the respect they get. But Cal Q has pitched too well for this to be automatic anymore.

Cal Quantrill just threw seven scoreless. Somehow, the guy I wanted nowhere near the rotation in March might be Texas’ most trustworthy starter.

I got into: Cal Q as Game 1 starter, the Gore trade, Foscue/Freeman, Justin Viele and the Wild Card race. 🎧

Cal Quantrill threw seven scoreless innings as the Rangers beat Washington 5-0 and moved to 62-64. Justin Foscue homered for the first time since July 9 and added a bases-loaded RBI walk, while Wyatt Langford, Corey Seager, Brandon Nimmo and Cody Freeman helped Texas score in each of the first...
