🌿 More Than Meditation — Practice Zen in Everyday Life

Our Zen practice gatherings are about more than simply sitting quietly.

Under the guidance of Dharma Master Ven. Jiangong, Abbot of Texas Pagoda Chan Monastery, participants have the opportunity to explore several complementary practices:

🧘 Sitting Meditation
Learn how to settle the mind, develop awareness, and cultivate stillness through guided Chan meditation.

🚶 Walking Meditation
Bring the same awareness developed while sitting into movement. Each step becomes an opportunity to return to the present moment.

🌿 QiGong Practice
Combine mindful movement, breathing, and awareness to cultivate balance and a deeper connection between body and mind.

🍵 Mindfulness in Daily Life
Explore how the principles of Zen can extend beyond formal practice — into eating, walking, working, relationships, and everyday activities.

Whether you're looking for a way to reduce stress, develop a meditation practice, deepen your understanding of Buddhism, or simply spend time in a welcoming community, you're invited to join us.

Beginners are welcome. No previous Buddhist or meditation experience is necessary.

🙏 Practice together. Learn together. Cultivate peace, clarity, and wisdom together.

🧘 Zen Buddhism Practice Series — DFW

Dear Friends,

What if we could slow down, become more present, and reconnect with a sense of inner peace and clarity?

We’re excited to share a series of Zen Buddhist practices in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, led by Dharma Master Ven. Jiangong, Abbot of Texas Pagoda Chan Monastery.

These gatherings offer an opportunity to practice mindfulness in different ways — whether you're new to meditation or already have an established practice.

Our practices may include:

🧘 Sitting Meditation — Develop greater awareness, concentration, and inner stillness through guided Chan meditation.

🚶 Walking Meditation — Bring mindfulness into movement and experience the practice of being fully present while walking.

🌿 QiGong — Gentle, mindful movement and breathing practices to cultivate awareness, balance, and vitality.

🍽️ Mindful Living & Eating — Explore how mindfulness can extend beyond meditation and into everyday activities.

The emphasis is not simply on learning about Zen Buddhism, but on experiencing the practice directly and discovering how mindfulness can become part of everyday life.

No prior meditation or Buddhist experience is required. Everyone is welcome.

🙏 Come practice, learn, and connect with others interested in cultivating greater peace, awareness, and wisdom.

Photos from our gatherings and practices are included below.

On May 10th, we had the distinct honor of once again hosting Venerable Jian-Gong Shih (Shifu) from the Chung Tai International Retreat Center 中台國際禪修中心 (Texas Pagoda Chan Monastery). Shifu compassionately expounded the Dharma and provided invaluable guidance on meditation in stillness and while in motion.

In a joint celebration of Mother's Day, the Abbot graciously taught us the importance of mindful eating, emphasizing how cultivating awareness during our meals can deepen our spiritual practice and daily wellness. To help us integrate these teachings into our daily lives, our host, Chuan Ying, prepared and distributed a practical mindful-eating tracker worksheet.

We are incredibly grateful to Shifu and everyone who joined us for this meaningful day of reflection, community, and gratitude.

On March 9th, Venerable Jiangong, Abbot of Chung Tai International Retreat Center 中台國際禪修中心, received a warm welcome from Venerable Bhikkhu Paññākāra at Hoang Dao Vipassana Center (The Ancient Sacred Buddhist Scripture Stupas Bảo Tháp Tàng Kinh Thánh Điển). Accompanying the Abbot were several disciples of the Three Jewels, who were also graciously received and shown warm hospitality.

Out of compassion, Ven. Bhikkhu Paññākāra graciously took time from his busy schedule to give us a tour of the Buddha Hall, grand kitchen, and meditation garden. We found the future site of the Dhammacetiya project to be especially peaceful and inspiring.

We wish Hoang Dao Vipassana Center great success with their Dhammacetiya groundbreaking ceremony on Vesak Day!

Here are some photos taken during our visit to the Vipassana Center:

🙂 Sweet Dew of the Dharma – Purification and Elevation: The Essence of Chan (Zen)

Chan means to purify and elevate the mind, from the coarse to the refined, from the relative to the absolute.
