Come have a beer, meet new friends, chat with old friends, listen to some amazing history and you can even ride your horse over!! New Terrain has a hitching post just for you.
Jefferson County Horse Council is the heartbeat of our county's equestrian lifestyle and heritage. They are also the organization that spearheads our Emergency Evacuation Team (EET) for ALL large animals (livestock) within our county. They were just down in Pueblo for two weeks helping to relieve the Pueblo CART Livestock Division for the Aspen Acres fire where they were in charge of the intake, care and wellbeing of over 2000 evacuated animals at two different fairgrounds.

Come out and meet the team, learn more about what they do and how to join them as a volunteer!

The fires and smoke are now here, in our backyards. Be sure to download the Watch Duty app to see real time fire tracking, evacuations, air quality, power outages, red flag warnings and much more.

Please also consider helping support these wonderful apps with a small donation for their efforts.

News from the Kestrel Project!

On Monday, June 22nd, Kirstin with the Arvada Kestrel Project met up with her ba**er to complete banding the nestlings at the kestrel nest box!!

Here are a few pics of the banding. We banded five 3-week old nestlings. All five are almost adult-sized at this point. Their flight feathers are mostly grown in and they will be ready to leave the box in about a week. They will spend about two weeks or so being cared for by their parents, while they hone their hunting and flying skills, so keep an eye out for these small and gorgeous little falcons! (All banding and handling of the birds was done for research purposes under a USGS federal banding permit).

For the safety of the horses and riders…

If you choose to use canopies they MUST be weighted and tied down.

Consider buying a sun shade for your canopy frame, the wind goes right through it.

Please invite anyone within the livestock/horse industry and join us for a highly informative evening.

Quick reminder on good bio-security practices to keep all our ponies safe this show season!

Remember to please bring your own water to the IEC. We do have a shared water trough but this should not be used unless absolutely necessary to reduce exposure risk to our horses. There is no source of fresh water at the IEC.
