WE’RE LOOKING FOR A FEW NEW TEAM MEMBERS! 🚨

Would you like to volunteer your time to help animals when they need it most?

The Front Range Animal Evacuation Team is looking for a few dedicated individuals to join our team. Our volunteers respond to challenging situations where animals need assistance, evacuation, transportation, or a safe place during emergencies and natural disasters.

We’re looking for people who:

🐴 Have a genuine love for animals
🚨 Are comfortable working in high-stress situations
🤝 Work well as part of a team
🧭 Can follow directions and work effectively under the direction of others
🚛 Are comfortable pulling a horse trailer or being a rider handling the paperwork
💪 Are dependable, willing to get their hands dirty, and ready to help wherever needed
❤️ Understand that the safety and well-being of the animals always comes first

This is a volunteer commitment, and our work can be physically and emotionally demanding. It also requires teamwork, flexibility, and a willingness to respond when our community needs us.

There is an application process and background check that every applicant must successfully complete before being considered for membership.

Alumni, family, and friends, the icon Temple Grandin will be speaking during her visit to Fort Westernaire on the morning of Saturday, September 5th.

Dr. Grandin is one of the world’s most influential educators, scientists, authors, and advocates, recognized internationally for her groundbreaking work in animal behavior, livestock welfare, neurodiversity, and visual thinking. A longtime professor of Animal Science at Colorado State University, she has transformed livestock-handling practices while broadening understanding of how different kinds of minds learn and succeed. Her life and work have inspired books, documentaries, and the acclaimed HBO film Temple Grandin, starring Claire Danes. Her own experiences with horses, mentorship, and hands-on learning have shaped a lifelong belief in helping young people discover and develop their strengths.

Her message is especially meaningful to Westernaires because it reflects our mission in action. Dr. Grandin has long emphasized the value of real experiences, practical skills, mentorship, and shared interests in helping young people recognize their potential. At Westernaires, those principles are lived every week as young people learn by doing, care for animals, accept responsibility, and discover what they are capable of accomplishing.

Seating for this special event will be available on a first-come, first-served basis in the Volunteer Arena, and we encourage attendees to arrive early and invite friends and family who would value the opportunity to hear Dr. Grandin firsthand. This is a rare opportunity for our Westernaires community to learn even more from a living legend whose perspectives on animals, education, different ways of thinking, purposeful work, and human potential continue to influence people around the world.

In our hopes to unite our community and share in the preservation of our western heritage we invite you to a Community Block Party and Open House!

Are you a dog trainer looking for exposure to your services? We want you! We are looking for someone to offer tips and educational resources for all things encountered when in public with your pups! Especially on trails when horses, bikes, other dogs, etc are common. Tips and Tricks for others who encounter dogs on the trails are also extremely beneficial!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - ACTION NEEDED

The City of Arvada has released the RFP (Request for Proposals) for the indoor equestrian center; please see the attached document and note that proposals are due in September. Please spread the word to those who may be interested!

This public, city owned facility should serve the public and should offer access, amenities and programming that partner with other public organizations such as 4-H, Jefferson County Horse Council, Arvada Area Horsemen's Association, as well as all community equestrians with a need and desire for access to an indoor facility.

With the Jeffco Fairgrounds again at risk of development, steps need to be taken to secure spaces to preserve and celebrate Arvada's agricultural and western heritage. Significant expansion of community access and events at the Indoor Equestrian Center is top priority. AAHA, JCHC and Jeffco 4-H organizations are looking to review and endorse proposals who meet these goals and visions.

Jefferson County Horse Council is the heartbeat of our county's equestrian lifestyle and heritage. They are also the organization that spearheads our Emergency Evacuation Team (EET) for ALL large animals (livestock) within our county. They were just down in Pueblo for two weeks helping to relieve the Pueblo CART Livestock Division for the Aspen Acres fire where they were in charge of the intake, care and wellbeing of over 2000 evacuated animals at two different fairgrounds.
