Fall is all about leaves, apples & pumpkins here at WMAF! How many varieties of apples are there? Did you know that pumpkins are part of the gourd family?
We are excitedly waiting for our winter projects. Did someone say snow on Thursday?!!
Thank you for your service. #veteransday #grateful
Tuesday Camp - a fun STEAM lesson; making popcorn! It was pajama day with movie, popcorn and fun and games!
Monday’s Camp - How high can I jump? How many somersaults can I do in a row? How much pizza can I eat at CiCis buffet?! We had so much fun here at our October 22 camp we had to come back!
October answered such questions as: How many children can you fit into an ambulance? or, How much pink can a child wear?
We recognized National Fire Safety Month & Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a visit from local Moorefield Fire and Rescue Company 23 and with our annual "Out Pink Sensei Day." And October wouldn't be complete without a Halloween Parade!
It’s that time of year again! Don’t forget to turn back your clocks tonight. Enjoy that extra hour of sleep!
In support of October Breast Cancer Awareness Month, children are challenged to wear more pink than Sensei Karen tomorrow, Friday, October 26th! Prizes will be awarded to those who wear the most pink. BTW - boys can wear pink too!
After schoolers got a treat Friday as Loudoun County Fire and Rescue brought an ambulance, pumper truck, gear and practiced “stop, drop, cover and roll”! Thanks Moorefield Fire and Rescue, Company 23. You rock!
Rain forecast may have kept us from seeing the Fredrick Keys Baseball game, but kids still had a ball at the local playgrounds - indoors and outdoors!

We took advantage of probably the last few warm days available for some outdoor fitness fun: football, frisbee, helicopter, jump rope, and just simply soaking up some sun!
It was “Apples & Johnny Appleseed” week! Who knew making applesauce could turn into a STEAM project! Children learned
the Science of lemon juices acidity keeps apples from turning brown; cooking uses Math as they learned basic fractions; human powered machines explored Engineering (Which was easier, the food press and pestle or crank with spiral and screen?); and the Art was in the applesauce!
Campers had fun in the sun when visiting Pumpkinville! You could pretend to be a turtle, race car driver, Humpty Dumpty or a jack o lantern. We petted the animals, picked a pumpkin, and tested the speed of the hay and moon bounce slides.
Children are out of school, and we are getting ready for our next adventurous camp - Monday, October 22! Don't miss out on the fun! Register by Friday,October 12.
Is that a monkey or a child making that noise? (It’s both!)
Campers had a blast spending the day at Pumpkinville! Check back for our photo album of the days adventures. #fallfun #pumpkinville
Columbus Day will be here in just 10 days; which means Pumpkinville! Campers look forward to our annual trip to Pumpkinville where they can slide down slides, jump in a moon bounce, go down the zip line, ride a pedal cart, feed the animals, get their face painted, pick a pumpkin and so much more!
Register by Monday, October 1 and save $15!
Happy first day of fall! What is your favorite thing about fall?
To learn about fall, we read fun stories like "The Fox and the Falling Leaves" and "Fall Leaves Colorful and Crunchy".
Our STEAM program this week had children using puzzle pieces for their fall tree, and experimenting with shaving cream to paint leaves!
Watch for our fall tree in the window next week!
After schoolers cut lose on the dance floor as they tried out some breakdancing moves! Classes on Thursday @ 3:30 begins next week! Be sure to register your child today and let’s see what moves they come up with! #bboylooner #breakdance
It’s Farm Animal Week! Children love tactile learning. So when children learned about cows, they got to simulate milking with gloves and water. STEAM project = fun!
Enjoy the day!
Our first week of school was Aviation Week!
Our STEAM project was to make and test paper airplanes-one launched manually, the other mechanically engineered with a rubber band. Which do you think flew further?
Children say they had a great first day of school! We are excited for another fun year with our after schoolers!
Our last week of Summer Camp took us to try out some good old fashion roller skating! Good bye summer!

This local fair is celebrating its 83rd year! What started out as a 4-H youth fair has expanded with circus acts, carnival rides, bands, demolition derby, and so much more! Though some of these fun events were not going on during our visit, campers did enjoy all the animals and circus act! Loudoun County Fair Photos
As always, we rounded out the week with soem STEM activities - science experiments and cooking!
Campers explored this 760,000 sq. ft. museum that displays historic aviation and space artifacts. The Donald D. Engen Observation Tower provides a view of landing operations at Dulles Airport.
Whenever possible, we love to cook or do a science experiment. This week, we found yet another thing you can cook using a waffle maker - tator tots!
Our summer reading program with Loudoun County Public Library is finishing up this week. Several of our campers earned a free ice cream! Great job kids!
The last program we attended was Japanese Drumming where campers - and adults - learned the culture of taiko drumming!
It is tax free weekend! Check out qualifying items. School starts in only 3 weeks! Have fun shopping.
