Looking for some indoor activities to do? Here are a few of our favorite preschool-friendly ideas:

Painting: Set up a simple art station with paper, washable paint, and brushes. Let your child explore colors and creativity.
Puzzles: Great for quiet time and building problem-solving skills. Start with large-piece puzzles and work your way up.
Yoga: Try simple kid-friendly poses and breathing exercises to help little ones relax and move their bodies.
Blocks: Build towers, bridges, and cities to support imagination, coordination, and early math skills.
Tea party: Use play dishes or safe real ones for pretend play, turn-taking, and practicing social skills.
Reading: Cozy up with a few favorite books and let your child choose the story to build a love of reading.

The Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) has canceled all outdoor programs and activities scheduled for Friday, July 17, 2026, due to the Code Purple Air Quality Alert issued for the metropolitan Washington region. The Virginia Department of Environmental Qualityโ€™s air quality forecasts for Northern Virginia are for Code Red or Code Purple.

As a result of the unhealthy air quality forecasts, all athletic fields, outdoor pools and splash pads will be closed on Friday, July 17, 2026. In addition, all PRCS outdoor camps hosted in Loudoun County have been moved indoors or canceled.

Residents should postpone visits to Loudoun County parks, playgrounds and other PRCS outdoor facilities due to the unhealthy air quality. Loudoun PRCS indoor programs provided at indoor spaces will continue as scheduled.

All sporting events hosted at PRCS athletic fields and outdoor pools are canceled on Friday, July 17.

Loudoun PRCS regrets any inconvenience, but operational adjustments are warranted for the safety of Loudoun County residents.

Leisure Pool Break Times = ๐’๐š๐Ÿ๐ž๐ซ ๐’๐ฐ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐ ! ๐Ÿ’ฆ

When our leisure pool is busy, you'll hear a 15-minute break called before the top of each hour. Here's why:

- ๐‹๐ข๐Ÿ๐ž๐ ๐ฎ๐š๐ซ๐ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐œ๐ฎ๐ฌ: Short breaks help vary activity levels so lifeguards stay alert and provide the safest supervision possible.
- ๐‚๐ฅ๐ž๐š๐ง๐ž๐ซ ๐ฐ๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ซ: Breaks are the perfect time for a quick bathroom stop, helping reduce pool contamination.

A few reminders during break time:

- Children under 16 are not permitted in the spa.
- The competition pool is reserved for lap swimming and water exercise only, not playing. If space is available, families are welcome to swim laps together.

Need to keep the kids busy?

- Bring a deck of cards for games like Uno, War, or Solitaire.
- Pack a small bucket and paintbrush so little ones can "paint" the pool deck with water.
- Take a quick snack break in the lobby or on the patio.
- Visit the outdoor splash pad, it remains open during leisure pool break times.

Thank you for helping everyone observe break times. Your cooperation helps us keep our pools safe, clean, and fun for everyone! ๐Ÿ’™
