Dear Students and Parents, It has been a great year at Enshin Karate. We’ve managed to improve from last year. Enshin Karate have made progress because we are always striving to enhance ourselves. Japan recovered after World War II because they adapted Kaizen philosophy, which means [seeking] ‘a little bit improvement' every day. At Enshin, we are trying to follow the same concept. Next year is approaching very fast. It is already time to set up our goals for the upcoming year. Personally, I like to write my goals on a piece of paper and tape it on the wall above my bed. This way, each morning, it will be the first thing I will see, and I can ask myself, "What I can do today to get closer to my goal?" Also with this strategy, the piece of paper will be the last thing I see before going to bed. Then, I ask myself, “What have I done today to get closer to my goal?" If the answer is "nothing” too many days in a row, I will know that it is time for me to change. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

A great parents night out last Saturday!
We offer classes for all ages. AFTER SCHOOL KARATE w/ PICK UP. KIDS SUMMER CAMP.. Kickboxing, BJJ, Self-Defense,Fitness, Cardio.

Achieve Believe Commit - Boost Confidence - Improve Health - Make New Friends - Boost Self-Esteem - Discipline

Most martial arts schools teach discipline and values. We offer that with the most practical self-defense system available. We offer a system of self-defense that will give you or your child the confidence to stand up for yourself and defend yourself if needed. In our experience, more confidence actually leads to fewer fights because you or your child will no longer be seen as a target. Enshin is a martial art focused on partner training. Not only does this make the system more practical, but it provides a safe place to learn self defense and cooperation.

Mission: Our goal is to create life champions through the positive mental and physical developement achieved through martial arts training.

I hope that you are staying healthy and safe. Just a friendly reminder that we are still open for classes and camps. If you want your kids or yourself to burn some energy come and join us.
We all got hit by a surprise and I can only imagine how stressful is that for every one health wise and financially. But we have to stay strong and keep going forward.

Thanks be to god for clients as good as ours! ❤️🙌🥰

My heart is so very warm with love! I am so thankful to have such supportive clients in times such as these. Being a small business owner can come with lots of ups and downs filled with risk and uncertainty. I couldn’t be more moved to have clients who understand the financial situation with our current events. As a small businesses we solely rely on our members to stay open. The coaches and facilities would be hurt if our clients were to all cancel at once. There would be no programs to come back to when the virus scare is done without this kind of understanding and support! Big thank you to those who can continue to support the programs here at LoCo Gymnastics, Kaizen MMA of Ashburn, and nZone. Messages like these literally brought warm tears to my eyes. Thanks be to god! Everyone have a blessed day❤️🙌

CDC Works 24/7

Dear Students and Parents,

I’m sure it goes without saying, but here at Enshin Karate/ Kaizen MMA, the health and safety of our students, families and our team is always our #1 priority, in fact, it’s the whole reason we’re here! Our students and families depend on us to help them accomplish their personal, physical, and mental goals, and we’re dedicated to honoring that mutual commitment.

We’re closely monitoring the rapidly evolving situation with the Novel Caronavirus (COVID-19), and wanted to take this opportunity to let you know about what we’re currently planning, and the steps we are taking to help protect our students, team and guests to our school.

We feel it’s important that we take rational, well informed approach, and follow the guidance of the medical experts who are charged with the responsibility of informing the public in such times, and to not proliferate fear or panic. We want our students, families and team members to be and feel safe, be on routine, continue to build a strong healthy body and immune system, keep on progress with their rank and training, and their lives to be as undisturbed as possible during this potentially stressful time.

We’ll be communicating frequently with our students, families and staff by Email, SMS text messaging, phone calls, and updates on our website to keep you informed about the status of classes. So please keep an eye out for these messages.

As of today, our plan is to continue classes as scheduled, but are taking special precautions to serve and protect our students and families even better.

Our school is professionally cleaned, and surfaces disinfected each day, however, out of an abundance of caution, we are taking further actions to re-double our efforts.

These efforts include:

Disinfectant cleaning of the mats twice a day
Disinfectant wipe down of all doors and door handles, chairs, counter tops, card racks, shoe cubbies, desks, phones, keyboards, mice, and other commonly touched surfaces at least 3 times per day
Disinfecting training equipment twice daily, and using ‘disposable’ training aides where possible (for example, we’ll use kicking ‘papers’ instead of vinyl targets, and dispose of those papers after each class).
Disinfectant cleaning of all surfaces and fixtures in the restrooms between each class
Hand sanitizers are stationed at the front counter
All staff, students, parents and guests (anyone entering the school) will be required to sanitize hands when entering the school.
Limiting Close Contact in Classes:

We’ll be limiting close personal contact in many ways for the next few weeks. As we always do, we’ll greet with a courteous bow instead of handshakes, we’ll use ‘air’ high fives, thumbs up, and other non-contact motivational tools to let you know what you’re doing well.

Instructors will limit physical contact with students when correcting technique, and we’ll be limiting student to student contact as well. For example, we’ll conduct “distance” sparring and one-steps instead of making contact, teaching longer range self-defense techniques, and temporarily eliminating grappling.

But fear not, classes will be as exciting and high energy as ever!

Potential Attendance Interruptions:

Following the CDC’s guidance, we ask that if you or anyone in your household are showing flulike symptoms, have a fever, or feel ill, stay home. In the event that any student has to miss class(es), we’ll happily provide extra make up classes, private lessons and/or extra training opportunities (with more to be announced) for them to make up any lost classes or time. We’re here to help you achieve your goals, and will go above and beyond to help you get back ‘on track’ after any absence or school closure.

We are also strongly recommending (in part, per the CDC’s guidelines)

Only attend class in a washed, clean uniform
Clean your gear after each class following the manufacturers recommendation
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
Cover nose and mouth with the inside of your elbow when coughing or sneezing
Clean and Disinfect surfaces and touch points in your home often (daily)
Avoid close contact with anyone with cold of flu like symptoms
If you have flulike symptoms, stay home, and call your doctor
We recommend focusing on reliable sources of information on this topic - The Centers for Disease Control - www.cdc.gov - The World Health Organization – www.who.int .

We will continue to monitor this situation very closely, and will inform you of any changes quickly, but if you have absolutely any questions or concerns, please feel free to give us a call here at the school, or email us directly.

We’re so grateful for your continued support of our school, and our mission to create a better world, one Black Belt at a time.

Yours,

Sensei Vlado

[03/13/20]   WHAT IS KARATE AND SHOULD WE LET OUR KIDS GIVE UP?
Karate is often a misunderstood art. More than breaking blocks of wood and mastering the high kicks of self defense, it's about discipline. And one cannot understand discipline without becoming somewhat adept at self-discipline. If we want our children to grow up embracing the virtues of self-control, respect, and confidence in themselves, then it is we as parents who have to demonstrate those same qualities to our children, and do so from about the age that they begin to walk.

Our kids learn to quit teams and music lessons, art classes and after school programs. Sometimes it is necessary, but sometimes they are bored or don’t like the coach or would just rather play video games at home. Deciding when to let your kids quit something, be it Gymboree, Little League or SAT prep, is a question that never goes away.

“The first time I let them walk away from something just because at that moment it didn’t suit them was the last time I had any credibility about endurance or resilience because the refrain henceforth would have been, “But you let me quit….”

We all have had experiences where we have given up early on something we wish we did not. We regret those experiences so let’s change that for our kids. We can let them build on that discipline to never give up and always persevere because our kids are not quitters. They want to be successful, they want to do karate, you want them to be successful, you want them to do karate. We do not want our kids to ever give up.

[03/12/20]   Dear Parents,

We are having camp to help parents that still have to go to work. Drop off will be at 7:30am and pick-up is before 6pm. We will try to keep the kids away from each other and no field trips. Please make sure you pack a lunch and two snacks.

Best regards,

Enshin/Kaizen MMA Staff

[03/12/20]   Dear friends and family,

You may be feeling concerned about the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, that has been in the news. If so, you are not alone. We at Kaizen MMA, wanted to let you know we are proactive in making sure our environment is as safe as is possible for our friends and family. Here are some specific measures we are taking:

- Our locations are professionally cleaned on a daily basis. We have chosen to implement some extra preventive measures (double cleaning) when cleaning and disinfecting everything our friends and families come in contact with such as benches, faucets, toilets, paper towel dispensers and more.
- Our team will perform extra duty tasks where common hand contact occurs during operating hours, especially between classes such as wiping down and disinfecting doorknobs, handles, faucets, and toilet operating arms.
- We will encourage all our friends and families to use our wall hand sanitizers, which are alcohol based as recommended by the CDC, conveniently displayed throughout our facilities, more frequently, especially before and after classes.
- Disinfecting wipes will be conveniently located throughout our facility for you to wipe down your phones, tablets, computers, sparring gear, and whatever else you need.

Here are things you can do to help support us in offering the safest environment possible.

- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Wash your hands with soap and water regularly while singing the A,B,C’s.
- Alcohol hand sanitizers are also effective.
- Try not to touch your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Please stay home when you are sick or show any signs of not feeling well.
- Cough or sneeze into a tissue or your elbow. If you use a tissue, wash your hands afterwards.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces that you bring into Kaizen MMA with the disinfecting wipes we have throughout the school.
- We will take the advice the NBA has offered their players, fist bumps are cool when greeting each other, but for optimal safety no more hi-fives or hugs at this time.

We are grateful to go through living our best life with all the friends and families that choose to be a part of Kaizen MMA. We know that together we will overcome this challenge.

Please feel free to reach out if have any questions or suggestions.

Warmly,
Enshin/Kaizen MMA Staff

This year, we are holding 11 fun, exciting and educational weeks of Summer Camp, from Thursday, June 11th, through Wednesday, August 26th.
