Asheville Water Update
We have water but only for flushing. I had not washed my hair in THREE WEEKS. I finally did it yesterday because the freezing tap water looked light yellow, and then I rinsed the shampoo out with boiled water that had cooled a bit. It was the closest thing to a warm shower I have had in that same time-frame.
The screenshot is from the BPR website, Blue Ridge Public Radio, which has been a life saver and our only news update source during this whole chaotic situation. They provide daily briefs at 11am here, which I am currently listening to from their website here:

MY THOUGHTS ON VELLA REMAIN THE SAME:
I am riding this horse named Kindle Vella into the worldwide release or sunset, whatever comes last.
From the beginning of relaunching my publishing company over 2 years ago, my strategy has been:
KU, eBooks, print, audio formats, followed by translations and then repeating the process.
That was my plan BEFORE I went down the Vella rabbit hole, BUT my overall goal is to STILL create multiple income streams across my five current series that I have been working nonstop on, plus any other books or series that may come to me in the future.
My Current Series are:
The Sandstone Series, Medieval and Modern
Women Coming Out Survival Guide Series
The Secret Stories of Gay Men Series
The Secret Stories of Bi Men Series
And my children’s series, cowritten by a character from my novels Between Classes and The Tapestry of Souls, Miriam Delapline: Harmony’s Heartwarming Pony Adventures
I have NEVER worked this hard in my entire freaking life!
LET IT BE PUBLICLY KNOWN: If this is the last thing I do, I will see these books published in as many of the above formats as possible, and I WILL do what I came to the planet Earth to do! My life goal and after-life legacy is to support shelters and provide scholarship programs for homeless LGBTQ+ Teens.
HEAR THAT UNIVERSE? I AM DOING THIS! THANK YOU KINDLY FOR YOUR SUPPORT! ❤️💙💜🧡💚💛

We are still learning about the destruction from Hurricane Helene. The stores in this video were places that we always took friends and out of town visitors, like members of our support group. We did holiday shopping at Bubba O’Leary’s shown in the video every year…Just tears here and no words for the destruction of one of our favorite small towns, Chimney Rock…
The destruction of Chimney Rock: A small mountain town grapples with its future Flash flooding caused by Hurricane Helene left the North Carolina mountain village of Chimney Rock unrecognizable. NBC News recently spent the day with Mayor...

Is my Morning Star Farms Original Chik’n Patty smiling at me, or have I finally lost my mind? I am thinking that mind loss may be the answer.
Whatever the truth may be, I must admit that I am thrilled to have a warm, yummy, sandwich with melted provolone cheese, organic fresh lettuce, unspoiled mayonnaise, and toasted bread for brunch. Oh, and how could I forget a side of warm baked beans, crunchy chips, and hot matcha tea in my favorite dragon cup?
These are the simple things that I took for granted for most of my life. Hurricane Helene has been hard to deal with, but I am grateful every day that my little family is making it through to the other side. ❤️

GREAT NEWS! 95% of residents have water now, but ours is yellow. Everyone with city water is under a boil water advisory that is updated and sent to us via phone calls and texts every day.
The boil water advisory includes everything tap water is used for besides flushing the toilet. Washing dishes is still very challenging, and I have not had a hot shower in days, but I am doing washcloth and baby wipe scrubs every night.
I am SOOOO thankful that we have enough water to flush, because no potable water was the hardest to find. We ended up getting water at a local condominium. A nice woman we met at the T-Mobile Community Care Wi-Fi and charging station lived there, and she and her boyfriend helped us get 8 buckets of water from the condo swimming pool. ❤️

I know that some Folks are probably tired of hearing about what we are going through in the mountains of Western North Carolina. I do these updates for friends, local followers, and also so that I can keep easy, dated, progress updates for my story, The Power of Water, which is free to read the first ten episodes here:

I have three more episodes nearly finished so soon there will be more chapters.

We are in Asheville, NC, two blocks from ground zero of Hurricane Helene’s catastrophic flooding. We could not vote at our regular voting location, so we drove to South Asheville and voted there. After we voted on brand new computer touch screens, we were talking to some of the voting volunteers.
A man walked by us, stopped and said, “For the first time in 57 YEARS I voted straight Democrat! I am a former Marine, and we need a big change in our country!“
I immediately teared up, and loudly said ”Thank YOU!”
One of the polling volunteers said, “THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!”
We all gave him the thumbs up, and as he drove his big truck away I noticed that he was smiling.
I then asked the polling volunteer if she had seen a lot of that kind of change, and she said, “Yes, so many people who have NEVER voted in their lives, have come out afterward and burst into tears!”
This whole conversation gave us hope for our country.
