Waynesville Fall Brawl Judo tournament was a blast!

The Asheville Judo Club competitors did a great job doing what they do best - whether it's pinning, arm-barring or throwing, they've definitely got their game plans on lock.

You may be wondering about one of these shots, "Is that a banjo in the background?" Why, yes it is. The Waynesville Kodokan arranged a special half time performance of a local bluegrass band! Appreciate everything the WNC Judo leaders do to keep things fun and grow the community.

Awesome job to our Asheville Judo Club competitors at the Nito Cup in Winston Salem this weekend!

Three out of the four competitors were first-timers to the Judo tournament scene and we're super proud of all of them!

Duncan swept his kids division and came out with first place. 😲 Jordan got a chance to shine in a giant novice division bracket and came out in second place. Nick and Garrett had some tough matches - won some, lost some, and fought hard!

Great job to our judokas and a big thank you to our supporters who came out to cheer on their teammates and loved ones!

Congrats to our Asheville Judo Club judokas on their promotions!

We see you putting in the time and hard work that it takes to make progress. Throwing people around and getting thrown around isn't easy, but y'all have shown a ton of dedication.

Thanks, as always, to our fearless leader, Sensei Jeff, for his support, enthusiasm and commitment to making us all better!

Congratulations to our very own Sensei Jeff on his Judo promotion to Sandan (3rd degree black belt)!

Jeff has been the backbone of the Asheville Judo Club for more years than we can count and than he can remember. ;) Jeff's got a wealth of knowledge and an abundance of enthusiasm for the gentle art and we couldn't be more honored to have him as a vital part of our program.

A big thanks for Sensei Jimmy Riggs of Waynesville Kodokan Judo for his support in recognizing and facilitating Jeff's promotion through USA Judo.

The Asheville Judo Club is a proud member of USA Judo, the National Governing Body of Judo and member of the US Olympic & Paralympic Committee.

We train every Wednesday 6-7:30pm and Sunday 12:30-2pm at Open Source Jiu-Jitsu. All are welcome. Pay-as-you-go and pay-what-you-want.

Congrats to our crew from the Asheville Judo Club at the Nick Goodly Invitational in Atlanta this past weekend!

These guys did an awesome job against some tough competition. Garrett and Bobby took home gold medals, Nick had an epic match that went into "golden score" (essentially "sudden-death" overtime, to put it dramatically ;)), and Travis racked up a couple more wins.

For those of you following our Open Source Grapplers' Grand Prix, this shakes up the leaderboard with Garrett taking the #1 spot.

As always, the Waynesville Fall Brawl did not disappoint and was expertly run by the fine folks at Waynesville Kodokan Judo - thanks for putting on a great event. Already looking forward to next year!
