After spending time on the water, we found ourselves drawn to trails. Like rivers, they follow natural fall lines through Nature. A 25 day float through the canyon felt short compared to a full commit thru-hike. We as humans explore different lines to find flow. To connect. And while made from soil and stone, we found that the technical performance we need for the water, was almost exactly the same on the trail..

You learn a lot about clothing on the road. If it’s too heavy, too hot, or too delicate, it gets left behind fast. The pieces that stay in rotation are the ones that breathe easy, move well, and don’t mind being worn again tomorrow. That’s where h**p keeps earning its spot.

Some lines feel familiar before you’ve even made the first move. Riverbanks start to look like canyon walls, ridgelines turn into waves, and the same instincts show up whether you’re reading whitewater or finding your way down trail.
The lesson doesn’t change much. Things go better when you stop trying to fight what’s already moving and start working with it instead.
A summer reminder from the river: trust the flow, look where you want to go, and follow your line.
