Enjoy these pictures of my sweet little Diego through the years. I sadly said goodbye to him two weeks ago, which is why I’ve been quiet on the socials.
I’m so thankful for all the joy he brought to me and my husband Ty. I miss him terribly.
He knew me before I even practiced Pilates, much less taught it.
He knew me before I started a business.
He came into my life just a few weeks before I met my husband and witnessed our entire relationship.
He was with us through the pandemic, hurricane Helene, 2 moves, and tons of living room dance parties, meals, movies, laughter, and tears.
Spoil your pet today. They see the raw, unfiltered versions of us and love us anyway. We are so lucky to have them in our lives. 🕯️❤️‍🩹🦜

At first glance, you might think “what’s the big deal?”
But when you practice standing up on your back leg and using the appropriate resistance, it suddenly becomes a doozie. (This was Nicole’s first time & it was taking everything in her)

The best Pilates often flies under the radar. It’s not acrobatic or flashy. It’s a simple push down that requires you to get the entire body on board with you.
Do you practice this one? It can be effective and challenging for just about anybody of any age or skill level.

These are full 50-55 minute lessons that must be used in one month. (online option also available)

For students with a regular self-practice of the original method, it can be easy to take the understanding of the Mat for granted. But I remember that Pilates has become so twisted and misunderstanding rules the day.
That being said, did you know that “flow” is already built into the work?
Treat your Mat like one exercise, and observe how it tosses, turns, bends, squishes, and wrings out the tissues of the body in an exhilarating fashion.

🌱Echelon Pilates offers an experience unlike any other studio in Western North Carolina. I teach Contrology, the original method created by Joe Pilates.

💡Group Contrology classes (AKA “Open Studio”) are offered alongside private lessons. Group work supports consistency and independence, while private lessons ensure the method is being taught correctly for YOUR body. These are not the typical synchronized Pilates classes prevalent today. They are the real thing!

🌷Each student follows their own PERSONALIZED sequence within the group setting. Everyone is working at their appropriate level and pace, with necessary guidance, rather than performing identical choreography. This is how the work is most effective.

🌸Because Open Studio is self-directed, students need a few private lessons first to build a foundation. I set students up for success, so they have the tools and skills to join in confidently & thrive!

Are you moving from the outside➡️in or the inside➡️out??
A shift in your mind can make all the difference in your Pilates practice.
This ended up being a long reel (even with speeding it up slightly), but I hope it might help someone in their practice.

In keeping with Pilates I’m highlighting 3 of the many wiggle-licious places where a student can get bogged down and lose focus, connection, and time. (Your mat shouldn’t take longer than 30 minutes!) Practicing with flow from the very beginning will give you the best chance of success in Contrology. If your current classical mat practice has a ton of stops, starts, and adjusting- come see me and we’ll get you sorted.👩‍🎤💖🪩

Chances are, your body is pretty close to where it needs to be and will organize itself without a big pause.
Moving without hesitation will keep your mat work flowing and will help you build your stamina.
Remember: The mat is one big continuous exercise. ♥️

Be smart. Honor your body as it is today.
There is nothing wrong with leaving an exercise like Rowing out. Skilled practitioners know they can challenge and reorganize themselves best by going back to the basics. (hello, Roll Up). And there ain’t no shame in that game 😉
