This is Riley from the Ashevillle area, sporting a Corner Kitchen shirt. He lost his life yesterday at the UNC Charlotte shooting. 😢😢😢

"Riley Howell, who was killed in the shooting, tackled the suspect after the attack began, police said. From there, officers were able to apprehend the suspect, and take him off campus.

22-year-old Riley Howell went after the UNC Charlotte shooter, saving lives, but losing his own in the process.

"He took the fight to the assailant," Putney said. He described Howell as an athletically built young man, and said Howell "took the assailant off his feet."

Putney says Howell was instrumental in bringing the shooting to an end, and was one of the heroes who kept others safe.

"He unfortunately had to give his life to do so, but he saved lives doing so."

We are gearing up for our summer festivities as a club, and want to inform you about the first of several events that we will be hosting.

::What:: Champions League Final party!!

::When:: Saturday June 6th, starting at 2pm
::How:: Bring $2 (or whatever amount exceeding) for the suggested donation, and a dish for the pot-luck food table.

Asheville Pizza and Brewing Co., one of our oldest community partners will be presenting a Wizards hosted Champions League Final viewing at their Millroom venue. This fabulous event space features several HD viewing screens, Asheville Pizza Beers on tap, and a huge family friendly viewing space and socializing area.

Please come out with your family and friends and help give back to your Football Club. We had a decent turnout for our spring social and would be thrilled to get even more support for this latest social opportunity. Your support will directly help the club in putting on more family-friendly and community-inclusive social events, as well as generating the support necessary for being able to provide our club with customized wizards merchandise, such as the training tops we offered in the spring, and the next slated item: new jerseys for the Fall!

WHAT: April's AWFC ProNet Event
WHERE: Catawba Brewing (Biltmore location : 63 Brooke Street Asheville 28803)
WHEN: April 20 (Today) from 6:30pm-8:00pm
WHO: Anyone interested in developing professional and/or personal networks of relationships and exchanges in the Asheville area
FORMAT: For the first 30-40 minutes we'll give each person 1-2 minutes to provide an overview of their company's services and benefits. The remainder of the ProNet event will be an informal social intended to foster personal and/or business relationships.
DRINK: There will be 5 pitchers of tasty Catawba brews to share for those who can join us!
BRING: Business cards to exchange with other Wizards and to participate in the drawing for some Wizards schwag that'll be given away at the end.

We are very pleased to present the new customized Wizards Training Top!! The first wave of orders will be placed THIS FRIDAY (03/06/15) so if you want before April be sure to order one TODAY!!! All orders placed after Friday will be completed at a later date (details to follow).

Right now, these tops are $45 dollars ($47 if paying by credit card) and will take 45-50 days to produce and ship. As we continue to work with community partners and sponsors the cost may go down slightly and anyone who has already pre-ordered will be refunded the difference.
