July 17 Chadwick Bay Marina, Dunkirk - Sometimes as a Charter Boat Captain you have to step it up. Had two out of town 1st time groups for Friday and Saturday. Both were in town for the weekend. With storms forecasted for Saturday called for a decision. Working with both groups, I ran a double charter Friday.
In the morning Joseph Luther, his son and buddy had a great bite and we boxed out early. Ran in, got to cleaning station and got their fish cleaned. Joe’s son was great got his first walleye and pitched in helping with everything including cleaning.
Got boat cleaned up and Mark Croyle’s group was ready to board, got fuel and we were pointed out the harbor by 12:30. Mark’s crew were all new to Lake Erie and hadn’t fished in years. Ran back to our morning line and fish were still there just a bit deeper. Got our box of walleye plus a bonus silver fish. Lake was flat and fast for the trip in. Got the fish cleaned and bagged. Long day for the Captain and totaled 44 fish filleted for the day. I don’t use a mate so pretty much on my feet from start to finish. Got our trips in, people happy with nice fish for their plate. The bite on Lake Erie is just exceptional-if you haven’t been out-take a charter!
