I didn’t plan on working out during our honeymoon, I really just planned on staying active in enjoyable ways! But how could I pass up this beautiful gym??😍

As a coach who takes a sustainable lifestyle approach, I usually don’t recommend forcing workouts on vacation, but just like anything.. it depends!

✈️ Work trip? If your schedule allows, I generally recommend keeping your workout routine.

🌅 Quick weekend getaway? Try to get your workouts in before you leave so you can fully enjoy the trip.

🌍 Longer vacation? Prioritize movement. Walk the city, hike, swim, explore, and soak in the experience. If you have a hotel gym or a yoga class that genuinely sounds fun? Go for it!!

That’s exactly what happened here.

We spent most of our Italy trip walking, hiking, swimming, and exploring. I did a couple of short yoga sessions on our balcony, and this ended up being my only strength workout because the hotel gym was too good to pass up🤪

I wasn’t working out because I felt like I had to. I worked out because I wanted to! That’s the kind of relationship with fitness I want for myself and my clients.

Healthy habits most of the year are what give you the freedom to enjoy vacations without stressing over workouts or some indulgent meals.

Fitness should fit into your life, not the other way around🤎

Third leg of our honeymoon in Italy - Florence 🥩🍷🍇

Turns out we saved the best for last, Florence and the Tuscany hills were our favorite spot we visited in Italy!

The Florentine steak, downtown shops, magnificent churches & statues, charming brick buildings, the vineyards and views in Tuscany, annnd of course more gelato were all incredible!!

Our bellies and hearts are full from this trip; now ready to get back home and fully settle in to our new home🥰 I love this life!!!

Second leg of our honeymoon in Italy - Amalfi Coast🌊🍋

Sorrento, Positano, & Capri🇮🇹

We were not prepared for the summer heat & humidity on the coast🥵 I see why people say to go in the fall! But still enjoyed the ocean, amazing views, art work, food, & beautiful architecture!

Memories to last a lifetime💌

Exercise isn’t just for the gym... it’s to get to views like this🏔️

This weekend’s hike at 1,750 ft of elevation gain, and while I definitely wouldn’t call it easy, I can confidently say it was a whole lot easier because I consistently strength train and run🤪

That’s one of my biggest motivations for working out!

Not to have the “perfect” body.
Not to hit a certain number on the scale.
But to build a body that lets me experience life.

To hike without feeling like I need to stop every five minutes.
To ski all day.
To explore new places.
To say “yes” to adventures without worrying if my body can keep up.

Consistent workouts are the tool to make that happen.

Build strength and endurance so you can use it to have FUN💛

What’s one activity outside the gym that your fitness has made more enjoyable?

One of the biggest mindset shifts is romanticizing healthy living and replacing “I have to” with “I get to”🙌💛

When your habits feel enjoyable instead of like a chore, it’s so much more likely they become a lifestyle!

Instead of…
I have to work out today ➡️ I get to move my body.

I have to meal prep ➡️ I get to fuel my body with foods that help me feel my best.

I have to go for a walk ➡️ I get fresh air, sunshine, and a chance to clear my mind.

That shift alone changes everything!!

A few ways to romanticize your healthy habits:
☕ Make your coffee in your favorite mug before your morning walk

🎧 Save your favorite podcast or audiobook for cardio

👟 Buy workout clothes you feel good wearing

🌅 Catch the sunrise after an early workout

🥗 Plate your meals in a way that makes you excited to eat them

🕯️ Light a candle while you meal prep

🚶‍♀️ Turn your evening walk into uninterrupted “me time.”

💧 Drink water from a bottle you love carrying

🌲 Choose movement that lets you enjoy your surroundings- hiking, biking, paddleboarding, walking your neighborhood, pickleball with friends, etc.

If you’re feeling stuck in an on/off cycle… instead of asking “how can I be more disciplined?” ➡️ ask yourself “how can I make this more enjoyable?”🫶🫶

Life lately 🤍

Listed our house… and went under contract in less than 30 days (we fully expected it to take much longer!)

Got married in Estes Park and had the most perfect week celebrating with friends and family💍

Traded in my car before the move - I’m LOVING the 4Runner. (The dogs also love that the back window rolls down🤣)

Packed up the house, and started our drive up north to ID + camped along the way.

Made it to our new house aaannnnd immediately got a boat🤣 Can’t live by lakes and not have one, right? Lol

Now we’re patiently waiting for our shipping pods to arrive so we can get fully settled in!

And next week… we’re off to Italy for our honeymoon🫶

Needless to say, life has looked a little different lately but in the best way🥰 So grateful for all of these amazing adventures and opportunities!!!

With things being so busy, I’ve been picking and choosing priorities. Less social media but keeping up with coaching, still making it to the gym but not hitting every run I’d originally planned, getting plenty of movement through walks and yard work, and while I’m not tracking my food right now, I’m sticking with structured meals, prioritizing mostly nutrient-dense foods, and leaving room for some fun foods as we explore our new town.

My routine is not as dialed in as it normally is but honestly, this is exactly what I coach my clients through!

Life isn’t meant to pause until everything is “perfect.” There will always be seasons that are busier, more exciting, more stressful, or simply different than normal.

The goal isn’t to follow the perfect routine 365 days a year, it’s learning how to adapt without abandoning the habits that help you feel your best.

Right now, I’m focusing on what I can control, letting go of what I can’t, and soaking up this exciting season of life. My routine will become more structured again, but these memories are once in a lifetime🤍
