Armor Angling Academy was started by Bassmaster Pro Sam George in order to create a unique course for anglers wanting to take their tournament experience to the next level. The course is excellent for younger anglers involved in high school fishing as well as adults wanting to further excel their game on the water.
The course is 2 days with Day 2 being on the water training.
It will start with the student(s) bringing their boat and equipment where we will go over equipment preparation, maintenance, and travel prep. This will focus on making sure the students are familiar with their equipment and how to fix minor breakdowns on the water.
From there, the student(s) will be given multiple scenarios facing different bodies of water at different times of year. They will learn to look at maps, footage, and information in order to prepare for an event as if it was a professional tournament. Once we go over scenarios, we will focus on the following day and treat it like it is Day 1 of practice for a professional event. We will go over how to do research on current conditions and patterns in order to formulate a game plan for the following day. This will include tackle and equipment preparation in order to maximize the limited amount of practice time in a real-event situation. The student(s) will most likely be given homework focusing on their strengths, weaknesses, and coming up with questions to ask business experts and other fishermen within the industry. Day 1 will typically last 4-6 hours, sometimes quicker depending on the student(s).
Day 2 will be our “on the water training day”. This will be treated as Day 1 of practice for a major event. Students will be trained on electronics, patterns, and how to process information learned throughout the day in order to formulate a tournament plan. They will be “tested” to find their own patterns, recognize potential patterns, and given multiple potential scenarios and taught how to make game time decisions. At some point during the day, they will be able to talk with marketing managers within the industry along with other professional anglers to answer any questions they have. This part of the course will give the student(s) a chance to learn how to approach sponsors and manage them. Yes, we hope to catch fish when we get on the water, however, this course focuses more on all aspects of the bass fishing industry from start to finish.
