Welcome to the Camp Kelley Alumni Page! Cobern Kelley, longtime legendary Youth Director of the Athe
The late Cobern Kelley, longtime legendary Youth Director of the Athens YMCA, left an influence that continues to shine through all that have attended or worked at Camp Kelley. This page is dedicated to all of the employees who have spent "a million hours" during their summer months pouring Kelley's teachings and legacy into the kids in our community. We hope this page inspires all Camp Kelley alumni to stay involved with the Camp Kelley movement.

Each year, the Cobern Kelley Award is given to one staff member and one leader in training. The individuals chosen are those that live up to the ideals set forth by Cobern Kelley and the Athens YMCA. Recipients show their love for Christ, the Y, Camp Kelley, their families, and themselves. Award winners are those who have a strong work ethic and sense of integrity while maintaining our core values of responsibility, caring, respect and honesty. Recipients exhibit these characteristics not only in their work environment, but in their everyday lives and with each person they meet. They truly uphold Kelley’s motto: “the best helping hand you’ll ever find is at the end of your own arm.”
Our 2022 Cobern Kelley Award winners are staff member Edrin Summerour and leader in training Elijah Bacon. Edrin started Camp Kelley in 2005 at 4 years old. He recently graduated from Hutchinson Community College where he played football and earned his associates degree in Sports Management. Edrin is an extremely talented young man with a heart of gold. Elijah started attending the Y at age 5 and is entering 9th grade at Madison County High School. He is possibly one of the smartest and most loyal Y kids we have had the pleasure of knowing. We are extraordinarily proud of these young men and their efforts this summer and in years past! ⭐️
