Gladiator Nation, join us in congratulating Jim Bob Harris and Chuck Smith as members of the 2026 Georgia High School Football Hall of Fame Class!

🏈 Jim Bob Harris (Clarke Central, 1977) | QB / DB

As quarterback of Clarke Central High School, Jim led the Gladiators to an undefeated 14–0 season and the 1977 AAA State Championship.

He went on to play defensive back and safety at the University of Alabama under Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant, and was a member of Alabama’s 1979 National Championship team (12–0), which capped off the season with a Sugar Bowl victory over Arkansas to secure Bear Bryant’s sixth national title.

💪 Chuck Smith (Clarke Central, 1989) | DE

As a star defensive end throughout his time at Clarke Central, Chuck helped lead the Gladiators to the 1985 State Championship Game.

After two years at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M (NJCAA), Smith’s elite athleticism earned him a full scholarship to the University of Tennessee.

At Tennessee, he competed in both the Sugar Bowl and Fiesta Bowl and earned Senior Bowl MVP honors. He later starred in the NFL as a key member of the Atlanta Falcons’ 1998 NFC Championship team.

The Clarke Central Community Youth Football Camp scheduled for Saturday, June 20 has been cancelled. The next Clarke Central Community Youth Football Camp will be Saturday, June 27. Go Glads!
