The Athens Skatepark Project will be running a series of Raffles & Silent Auctions during the SPOA 21st Birthday Bash next Saturday, April 25th to fundraise for the SkatePark Of Athens Phase Two expansion. We’re looking for our community to be apart of Maximizing our Fundraising Potential through donating items to the Raffle & Silent Auction.

Gift Cards, Handmade Art, Collectables, Skateboard/BMX merchandise & Memorabilia, Gift Baskets, Concert & Event Tickets, Home Goods & Appliances, the list goes on. Please go to the Link in our Bio titled “Raffle & Silent Auction Donation” to find out how to participate in the fundraiser.

Raffles & Auctions will take place April 25th from 12Noon to 5pm at the SkatePark Of Athens during the 21st Birthday Bash. Item Recipients will be announced at 5:00 when Live Music concludes.

Twilight Athens is upon us! This weekend Downtown Athens will be swarmed with cyclists from all over the world competing in bike races through the streets.
While watching right hand turns is fun, watching some heavy rippers hitting high flying air on BMX Bikes and Skateboards has a bit more flair and excitement to it don’t ya think?

This Saturday we’re teaming up with Freestyle Connection to bring the adrenaline to Twilight! We’ll be setting up Box Jumps and Ramps in front of the Globe & Little Italy. Come grab a slice of pizza or a nice cold draft Guinness and enjoy the show!

Demos at 1pm, 2:30pm, & 4:00pm

Get ready for SPOAs first Quad & Inline workshop! Come learn the ins and outs of Quads at the skatepark while helping us raise money for Phase Two! Roller Skate veteran and all around rad human Christay is donating her time and knowledge to help make YOU a better park skater!

What to expect from the class & participants
- Have your own skates. Quads are my specialty, but inline is fine, too!
-Pads are HIGHLY recommended. Especially knees and wrists.
-Helmets mandatory (styrofoam bike helmets will NOT save your noggin!). I have a few spare, old helmets I am happy to loan for the class.. But I only have 4 loaners.
-You will get the most out of this if you at least have minimal skating skills: Stopping & forward motion
-Ages 15+. Younger kiddos need more one-on-one attention and encouragement (I speak from experience. I am happy to set up a private lesson that will be more accommodating to youngins, though!).
-This class will be taught in a group format. I expect everyone to at least TRY what I am instructing. If you become uncomfortable or tired, it is perfectly acceptable to remove skates and spectate/take notes. No refunds, this is a fundraiser!

What we will cover:
-skatepark etiquette, rolling down banks and roll-ins, pumping, carving; and for those ready to make the dive, dropping-in!

My qualifications✨
My skating journey began with Roller Derby back in 2007. I retired and went full-skatepark in 2015. Becoming proficient in the skatepark is still an ongoing journey, but I feel like over the years I have become quite equipped to explain and break down the skills needed to progress in the park. It’s a marathon, not a race. We all learn differently and at our own pace. My goal is to equip YOU with the tools you will need to confidently roll into any skatepark with an idea of what you enjoy.

Back to School Jam 2025 is here and we’re making it bigger than last years!
We want to have a vendors market at this years event! We want YOU to come set up shop and show the community what you’re about!

Saturday August 2nd from 10am to 3pm we will be at the SkatePark of Athens doing skateboard clinics, trick demos, and giving away Skateboards & School Supplies!!

We hope to see you all this Saturday at Southeast Clarke Park for the Star Spangled Classic! The fun starts at 6pm with carnival rides, games, food, and live music! The fireworks show will conclude the event, beginning around 9:30pm. You can find more information, including parking details and a map of the event at accgov.com/fireworks!

The 2nd Annual Star Spangled Classic at SouthEast Clarke Park is coming up later this month!
Join us for a community celebration with live music, food trucks, and a beer garden at SouthEast Clarke Park, hosted by Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services!

We will be gathered at 5pm to do demos for the community and to ride our park underneath the biggest firework display in Athens!
PLEASE join us in riding and skating as we show off what is possible when the government provides facilities for our community to use. We want YOU! All are welcome to join in the demo, the more the merrier.
