Mental health matters.
Many of us in the Armed Forces Fishing League and the Armed Forces Fishing League - Georgia have served in the military, law enforcement, fire service, EMS, corrections, or other public service professions. We understand that some of the toughest battles aren’t always visible.
As the Georgia Department of Public Safety recently shared, the calls don’t always end when the shift does. The stress, trauma, and challenges that come with serving others can follow us long after the day is over.
The AFFL is more than a tournament trail—it’s a brotherhood and sisterhood. If you are struggling, know that you are not alone. The Georgia Division has members who have completed peer support training and certification and can help connect you with resources and support.
Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is reach out.
If you ever need someone to talk to, please contact the AFFL Georgia State Director, and we will help connect you with a trained peer support member.
Take care of yourselves, your families, and each other.

Huge thank you to Jamie Murphy with Hank Parker’s Southern Fusion BBQ Sauce for donating bottles of their amazing BBQ sauce to the Armed Forces Fishing League - Georgia’s silent auction basket for this weekend’s Veterans Event in Hiawassee! 🇺🇸🎣🔥
Not only do they make incredible sauces, but they also have a BBQ restaurant — Southern Fusion BBQ Barn — located in Chesnee, South Carolina! Be sure to check them out if you’re in the area.

The State of Georgia Armed Forces Fishing League, the state of Georgia Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW, and several great vendors and community partners are getting ready for an awesome weekend in Hiawassee! 🇺🇸🎣
We are currently still looking for donations for our own silent auction basket that will be featured during the event. All proceeds from the silent auction will benefit State VFW programs that support veterans across Georgia.
