The Lakeside Varsity Sofball season came to an end yesterday after a hard-fought playoff series loss to Newnan. The teams were evenly matched, and it just came down to a few plays. After winning the first game 4-3, Lakeside was on the losing side of the following two games, 9-6 and 9-7.
The team set a school record this year with 20 wins, against only 6 losses. This outstanding record was a culmination of many years of hard work. Congratulations to the team for their success on and off the field.

Today we honor our senior, Rosalynn Turner
Rosalynn has played center field, shortstop, and 3rd base in her 5 years of Lakeside softball, four of which have been as a starter on the Varsity team.
She is a member of the Student Government Association and National Honor Society. Rosalynn served as her Freshman Class President, and her Sophomore and Junior Class Vice-President. Rosalynn is also the starting quarterback for the Lakeside Flag Football Team. She has also served as Co-President of the Embry Hills United Methodist Church Youth Group.
Rosalynn’s favorite memory is eating and sharing sunflower seeds with her teammates and beating Decatur for the first time in 12 years.
Next year, Rosalynn plans to study Business Administration at either the University of Washington or University of Georgia.

Today we honor our senior, Molly McHoul
Molly has been the primary Varsity starting pitcher all 4 years of high school, starting almost 60 games in her career and earning All-County and/or All-Region honors each year.
Molly is a member of the National Honors Society, Beta Club, French Honor Society, and Interact. She has tutored for La Amistad throughout most of high school and is a member of the National Charity League where she has served as Philanthropic Liaison, Treasurer, and Secretary the last 3 years. As a Junior, Molly earned the Georgia Certificate of Merit and AP Scholar Award.
Molly’s favorite game memory is beating Decatur earlier this season for the first time in over a decade. And many of her favorite memories overall are just laughing and joking with teammates, like the time Jenna tried to put first base in vertically or the time Roz got a hit, tripped over 1st base, and had to crawl back before getting tagged out.
Molly will be attending an undetermined college next year.

Today we honor our senior, Ellie Lenz
Ellie has played first base, catcher, and third base over her 5 years in the Lakeside softball program, four of which have been as a starter on the Varsity team. She has won multiple all-county and all-region awards, and recently, she broke the all-time DeKalb County career record for home runs when she hit her 26th of her career at home versus Chamblee.
Ellie also plays power forward for the Lakeside Basketball team, and she volunteers during fundraising events for the nonprofit FODAC—Friends of Disabled Adults and Children. She helps with the youth program at church, and in general, Ellie is always willing to kindly give a helping hand.
Ellie’s favorite memory is during her junior season at the softball tournament in Augusta... after the games, the whole team hopped in the hotel pool and played Marco Polo.
Next year, Ellie plans to study sports medicine in a 5-year masters program while playing softball at Piedmont University.
