👀 This is what balance actually looks like.
Not working for free.
Not skipping breaks.
Just choosing boundaries instead of self-sacrificing.

⚠️ tw: pregnancy loss
💜 I didn’t fall off. I was surviving.
Over the last year, my real life got a lot louder than the internet — trying to grow our family, walking through loss, then a high-risk pregnancy 🤰🏾 and finally a C-section and newborn life. There wasn’t space to “show up” online and still take care of my body, my mind, and this baby.
🙌🏾 So I chose the thing I tell nurses to choose but rarely give ourselves permission to do: I picked my health, my healing, and my actual life over being “consistent” on social media.
➡️ Now that I’m easing back in, I’m not interested in pretending it was easy or acting like burnout is just part of the job. I want Selfish Nurse Club to be proof that you can be a nurse, a mom, a whole human… and not abandon yourself in the process.
🙋🏾♀️ If any part of this feels a little too familiar, comment CLUB so I know you’re here, and I’ll send this kind of nurse motivation straight to your inbox. 💌

🗣️ Let’s be real.
It’s not a mystery how some nurses have time for gym dates, therapy, journaling, or solo brunch.
🙅🏾♀️ They’re not luckier. They’re more disciplined.
To my fellow nurses who have escaped work/life balance….tell me👇🏾
⁉️ What’s something you do…
that burned-out nurses think they “don’t have time for”?
👏🏾👏🏾⬇️ Let’s drop the excuses & share the solutions.

🗓️ 5 days nurses should put on your calendar every week
05/01/2025
I don’t want to be the nurse who’s always running on fumes.
Always tired.
Always stretched.
Always showing up for everyone but myself.
I want to be the nurse who’s well-rested.
The one who’s clocking out and tapping into real peace — journaling, moving my body, taking solo dates, losing track of time in a good book or random hobby that has nothing to do with work.
I want my days off to feel like mine.
I want to be the kind of nurse who has boundaries.
Who prioritizes her joy.
Who’s protecting her peace and her nervous system like it’s sacred — because it is.
Because being a Black woman in healthcare is already a lot. I deserve a life that feels soft, sustainable, and fully mine.
If you feel this in your soul, I got you.

🗣️ when i say selfish, i simply mean showing up for yourself.
💜 outside of work.
putting on your own oxygen mask, BEFORE helping others 💨

👀 Are you a nurse who lives to work? Or works to live?
I am the latter. 💁🏾♀️
I remember always being tired, working nights, & dreading my next shift. 😣
I did not have the energy, nor the consistent schedule to truly live life or develop any type of routine.
I was just working and recovering on my off days....going through the motions.
But after leaving the bedside I was able to:
👉🏾 regularly attend therapy
👉🏾 develop a consistent workout routine
👉🏾 consistently get at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night
👉🏾 attend ALL of my friend's events
👉🏾 celebrate EVERY holiday with my family
👉🏾 get a remote job
👉🏾 increase my income
👉🏾 start a business
I mean seriously, the list just goes on....and on 😍
So if you are looking for a sign to start living a little more, and make some healthy career changes...
