Such stunning work.
A Court of Thorns and Roses Cosplay by Any Road Cosplay
"This is a dress inspired by the book series A Court of Thorns and Roses, and is most closely inspired by the city of starlight (known as Velaris) and the Night Court in the book. This has taken 6 months to create. Everything (with the exception of the shoes, wig, and temporary tattoo) is made by me. It was important to me to make sure I was incorporating the actual book, so I purchased a used copy to create a variety of paper flowers with spun cotton leaves and also used book pages on the wings. I tried to use fabrics that were two-tone and made you question what color they are so it would more closely resemble the changing colors in the sky at dusk. Pieces of this build include the following:
Undergarments:
-bum pad created with pattern by Ninonella
-bloomers
-1860's crinoline that I used a historically accurate pattern (from Ninonella) for
-Petticoat- I severely altered a Ninonella 1860's petticoat patern that has a base of purple satin polyester fabric with multiple layers of multi-colored tulle and organza to add bulk to the dress. For the first few layers of the petticoat I I created a channel on the hem and slid invisible fishing wire through to give it more flounce
Outer Garments:
-Underskirt- velvet, organza & glitter tulle with led lights installed under the dress to poke through and create a star affect. Patterned by making adjustments to a circle skirt based on my measurements
-Overskirt- 36 different size circles that have been draped along the top of the skirt. Created my own bias tape to hem each of the circles. Added 100 rhinestones & paper flowers (made of book pages)
-corset- made with silk dupioni and lined with cotton. There is embroidery on the bodice of the corset to give subtle references to the ACOTAR story. Sleeves for corset top made of organza. Patterned from scratch
Accessories:
Elf Ear Cuffs- created with 12 guage wire, craft wire, beads & an amethyst stone
Wig (purchased but styled by me)
Headpiece- incorporating leftover worbla scraps, paper flowers, stones and fake baby's breath flowers
wings- made with EVA foam, PVC pipe, steel bones. Tea dyed pages from the story to glue onto the wings as a collage. attached with a harness that has elastic running through. There is an illusion of a ""bookshelf"" on the back where I re-created the books series with foam."
