On this day 7 years ago Anthony Joshua landed one of the most incredible uppercuts in boxing history, then went on to defeat the formidable Wladimir Klitschko in an absolute stunning heavyweight clash, maybe the best heavyweight fight I’ve ever seen.

Frank Bruno on the sad reality for some retired boxers…

Bruno: “I was just a kid when my dad, Robert died, but one of the last things he said to me became my motto for life. ‘Franklin, son' he said to me. 'as you get older, trust nobody but yourself..’ I kept those words close to me after I retired and often it has kept me out of trouble.

“Life after boxing isn't easy. Many of the people who were fighting in my day are now either six foot under or banged up. Loads more are surrounded by Wrong’en’s. Boxers, particularly those who have retired, can find themselves easy targets to the wrong kind of so-called mates. Lots of retired pros have money in their pockets and time on their hands. So there will always be blokes coming along saying they are Mr Big Shot and they are more than happy to tell you how to spend it - then mug you off.”

Usyk: “I am not motivated by money. Money is probably the easiest of all the resources to earn. My goal is to live my life to be useful to the world I live in. You can't just keep putting money in your own pockets and doing everything for yourself. When you die, there are no pockets inside your coffin. When you stand in front of your final judge, only your real deeds will be valued - not how much you earned, but what you really did.”
