I’m a guide and a painter both, and the two feed each other. Swipe through the dogs, the birds, and the country — all watercolor and India ink. Every piece starts with a real dog and a real day in the field.

The cover of my book is my own painting; the book is in my bio.

Prints are available to collectors by email. 🔗

People ask what I feed my dogs. Here’s the honest answer:

On a three-hour hunt, Spade and Joker never slow down — a client watching them run said the same thing. Their weight stays right, too; I don’t see the hip and hind bones I used to see on other food.

I partnered with Pack Provisions for the formula. It’s akin to what a dog would actually eat in the wild — whole-animal, every part used, nothing wasted.

For me it comes down to showmanship: feeding my dogs right means they look and perform their best — so every client who hunts behind them gets that performance too.

I never grew up with a hunting mentor. No family tradition, no one to hand me a shotgun and say “here’s how it’s done.” I figured it out in the field - one mistake, one lesson, one unforgettable morning at a time.

The Unlikely Upland Hunter captures everything I learned as a first-generation upland hunter so you can step into the field with confidence from day one.

Swipe through and see what’s inside:

✔️ Gear basics that actually matter
✔️ Reading the land and finding birds
✔️ Training and hunting with your dog
✔️ The mindset that carries you through the field

This one’s for every first-gen hunter who felt like they didn’t belong out there. You do. And this book proves it.

Buying your first shotgun? Don’t let the marketing talk you into the wrong gun.

Swipe for the 3 things that actually matter — and why the expensive one isn’t the answer. The fancy gun is a destination, not a starting line. Competence in this sport is walked into, not purchased.

Pulled straight from The Unlikely Upland Hunter, my start-from-zero field guide.

The Unlikely Upland Hunter: Bird Dogs, Bobwhites, and Finding Your Way Into the Sporting Life 05/29/2026

I wrote the book I wish someone had handed me. When I came to bird hunting, I was a first-generation hunter from Atlanta with no map, no mentor, and no idea where to start. I bought the wrong gear, trained my first dog half-wrong, and walked past more birds than I ever flushed. I felt like an impostor in a world that, in a thousand quiet ways, told me I didn't belong. And then I figured it out — one season, one mistake, one good dog at a time. The Unlikely Upland Hunter is everything I learned the hard way, written for the person standing at the edge of the field, looking in. Shotguns, bird dogs, where to legally hunt when you don't own land, how to read the country, how to make the shot, and the deep tradition underneath it all — written start-from-zero, with no assumed knowledge and no gatekeeping. The cover is my own painting. The story is real.

Grab it now at the link below — and if you know someone who's always wanted to get into this life, this is the thing to put in their hands.

The Unlikely Upland Hunter: Bird Dogs, Bobwhites, and Finding Your Way Into the Sporting Life You've felt the pull. You just never had anyone to take you.Maybe you grew up in a city. Maybe nobody in your family hunted birds. Maybe you've watched a pointing dog lock up on a covey and felt something stir that you couldn't quite name — and assumed that world wasn't meant for someone like you....

AI can’t replace a good bird dog, period! The dogs are a huge part of the human experience, particularly MY human experience and the hunting experience for folks we guide. I think we need to hold on to those things that tether us to this planet. is crafted for the ones who still believe the best days start with cold boots, a wagging tail, and a dog that knows the field better than any algorithm ever could.

Thank you so much for honoring me with this beautiful award! Renee and everyone who found it in their hearts to nominate me, I’m ever so grateful! Getting folks introduced to the outdoor community has been work that allows me to connect with folks through all the avenues of my passions, and I’d have never imagined that this would be a part of my journey.

Thank yall!
