Let’s talk about REST, RECOVERY & STRESS MANAGEMENT 🧘‍♀️

It’s funny how things work out how they are supposed to and happen when they do.

I just completed my Sleep, Stress Management & Recovery certification and mannnnn, little did I know this was much needed for ME & my family, as much as it was for my clients!

I KNOW how important it is to take care of all aspects of your health BUT personally I was neglecting certain things (recovery and stress management in particular 🤪 hello boy mom here 🫣)

I was talking to someone about my oldest son being GO GO GO with golf, soccer, basketball and I had an “ohhhhh yeahhh” moment, they told me I NEED TO MODEL rest and recovery and how important it is for him!

DUHHH, this kid sees me and his daddy going one million miles an hour, all day every day and probably thinks he HAS to go go go as well and rest is bad. Sure enough when we asked him, he said “I feel like resting is bad” 🤯 eeekkkk well the good news here is I am going to pay even more attention to making sure my kids not only see me work, working out hard, but also REST, RECOVER & take care of my mental self too! It’s all so important and you can’t feel great without both so if you are still hear reading my mini TED talk 🤣 this is your reminder to pay attention to what your body is trying to tell you whether it needs some more rest or is craving some activity that may be something as simple as playing soccer with your kids one day and doing a weights workout class the next, BUT the key here is to LISTEN to your body and respect what it’s trying to tell you! If not learn from me, it will force your b***y to slow down one way or another 😂🤦🏼‍♀️🤪

It’s been a while people!
Man, life got busy QUICK 🤣 but I’m still here working with my online clients who are, by the way, freaking rocking it!
Here is one in particular that I want to give a quick shout out too, I am soooo
proud of her, and this is actually a before and during 😉
We began with a 16 week cut and are now 2 weeks into her reverse to maintenance and she is still losing weight while eating more food and lowering the intensity of her workouts. She is currently doing 4 days of weights workouts and 2 walks per week while focusing on her macros!
She is 15 lbs and 14 total inches down!
She is just getting started and I am so excited to see her continued progress these next few months! Keep it going girl friend 🙌🏻 Great job 💪🏼💪🏼

Yesterday’s workout looked a little something like this….but hey I got it in 😜
Whatever works right?
Don’t worry if your workout doesn’t always go as you imagined it, something is always better than nothing! I definitely had to stop to breakup some fights and wipe some b***y’s but again I moved my body and still managed to get it done, with some extra weight on me aka Jaxon and Cruz LOL 😆

Getting my upper body workout done with my niece Josie today, she’s definitely in the running for my cutest workout partner these days ❤️ so excited to have another niece to spoil and SO happy to be here in England meeting her!

Yesterday’s Lower Body Workout with Cruz 💪🏻

Instead of two 15 lb DB’s I upgraded to a wiggly 36 lb kid 😝

The best part about this workout is Cruz said “mommy you are playing with me and working out, it’s a double” lol so I got my workout in and he still felt like I was playing with him too ❤️ best of both worlds for both of us!

I did 3x15 for each circuit

1. Banded side lunges
2. Frogger Bridges
3. Banded Supermans (not pictured)

1. Front squats (Cruz as my weight)
2. Back lunges (with Cruz)
3. Jump squats

1. Banded kickbacks
2. Kettlebell swings
3. Jump lunges

I also have been adding some more cardio in this week! I ran 1.5 miles to Cruz’s boxing and 1.5 miles back, it felt great!

Today is my upper body day! I’ll get that done after I train my clients and get back to all my 1-1 online clients 👊🏻

Alexa can you do my workout for me today 😂

jk I actually can’t wait to get home and back in my workout routine this week!
The Kentucky Derby was such a fun experience with some of my fav peeps but I’m always happy to get home!
I got a few workouts in while I was away thanks to my girl we just made sure to move our body’s every day but didn’t do too much because we didn’t want to sweat our spray tan off 😂
Next time you want to do upper body, try these exercises 4x10!

YES 👏🏻 YOU 👏🏻CAN 👏🏻

Who else has heard, “oh your body will never be the same after kids”

“Oh just wait til the 2nd kid comes, your body won’t be able to recover from it twice”

How did I do it?
☑️ Consistency and made it a priority because I feel better when I make time for my workouts and nutrition 🙌🏻

☑️Dropped the all or nothing mindset, some workouts were better than others and I know longer felt I had to go to the gym, feel sore or sweat a ton to get a good workout in!

☑️ I tried to stay consistent with my workouts and nutrition while pregnant (believe me I still had cravings for sour patch watermelons and bbq lol, but for the most part I ate good food to fuel me and my babies)

☑️I walked post having both my boys, but waited to workout until I was cleared by my doctor 💪🏻

☑️ Made sure to stay hydrated 💦

☑️Once I was cleared I worked out while the baby was napping, would take him for walks or use them as my weights if they wouldn’t nap lol I figured out a way to make it happen and cut the all or nothing attitude. Before kids i thought if i didn’t sweat and wasn’t sore the next day that workout was worthless, so dumb lol 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 I promise it’s all about moving your body and prioritizing time for yourself to make you a better mom, wife and friend! Everyone is nicer and feels better when they are taking care of themself so don’t feel selfish for making 30 minutes for yourself!
