Tua Tagovailoa is not making the Atlanta Falcons' quarterback decision any easier.
In fact, his preseason performance has only raised more red flags.
While battling for the starting job and trying to prove he can lead this offense, his on-field ex*****on has been undeniably poor.
When looking at the offensive grades for Atlanta’s quarterbacks this preseason, the gap is staggering.
Cooper Rush leads the room with a solid 73.9 grade, followed by undrafted rookie Jack Strand at 65.8.
Meanwhile, Tua sits all the way at the bottom with a dismal 31.8 overall grade.
For a veteran with starting experience trying to hold off a rising rookie and a reliable backup, posting a grade in the low 30s is a massive step in the wrong direction.
If the coaching staff is evaluating purely on preseason production and rhythm, it is becoming increasingly difficult to justify handing Tagovailoa the keys to the offense for Week 1

The Atlanta Falcons lock in the No. 9 spot on PFF's 2026 offensive line rankings! Even with the coaching transition up front, Atlanta retains elite star power along the line.
Right guard Chris Lindstrom remains a pure force in the running game, having produced a staggering 90.0+ PFF run-blocking grade in three of the last four seasons.
Opposite him, 34-year-old veteran left tackle Jake Matthews continues to defy father time, coming off four consecutive seasons with an 80.0+ PFF pass-blocking grade. With Matthew Bergeron, Ryan Neuzil, and Jawaan Taylor completing the front, the Falcons boast a high-level unit ready to clear path for Bijan Robinson. 🔴⚫️
