Broken Pieces to Peace - I didn’t identify with brokenness until I found PEACE - Just B

09/02/2026

Hello, September. 🍂

Seasons change and so can you.

There is something about September that whispers, SHIFT.

The calendar changes.
The season begins to turn.
The days become different.

And maybe… so should we.

Not every shift requires a dramatic announcement. Sometimes God shifts us quietly—from striving to trusting, from proving to becoming, from holding on to releasing, from simply surviving to finally living again.

S — Surrender what has served its season.
H — Honor where you are now.
I — Intentionally choose what comes next.
F — Focus on what feeds your future.
T — Trust the transformation.

September, I’m not asking you to make everything easy. I’m asking God to give me the wisdom to recognize what has changed, the courage to change what needs changing, and the grace not to force what no longer fits.

Some things aren't falling apart.
They’re shifting into place.

Welcome, September.
I’m making room for what this season requires of me.

Loving you with all of me. Just B.

SOMETIMES… GOD ASSIGNS YOU TO A SEASON OF Q.U.I.E.T. 🤫

I know because I’ve been there.

There was a time when I thought quiet meant something was wrong. I thought I needed to explain myself, fix something, reach out, show up, respond, keep moving… keep doing.

But God has been teaching me that every season does not require my voice.

Some seasons require my silence.

And whew… silence will teach you some things noise never could.

Q — QUIT forcing what God has allowed to become still.

I stopped chasing conversations, connections, explanations, and closure. Some things didn’t need another conversation. They needed my surrender.

U — UNPLUG from the noise.

Everybody doesn’t get access to every version of me. I’ve learned to step away without announcing my departure and protect what God is developing within me.

I — INVEST inward.

I have spent a lifetime pouring, helping, serving, encouraging, fixing and showing up. But God reminded me: B, you need some of what you keep giving everybody else. So I started pouring back into me.

E — EXPECT God even when I can’t see Him moving.

This one has been BIG. Quiet can feel empty—but I’ve discovered that God does some of His deepest work underground. Just because I can’t see movement doesn’t mean there isn’t movement.

T — TRUST what He is doing with me.

Not just for me. WITH ME.
I’m learning not to rush becoming. Not to explain every change. Not to announce every revelation. Not to feel guilty when God calls me away from what once had unlimited access to me.

This season has taught me something:

Quiet is not isolation.
Quiet is not rejection.
Quiet is not inactivity.
Sometimes, QUIET is obedience.

God had to quiet some things around me so I could finally hear what He was saying within me.

And what I once interpreted as silence, I now recognize as sacred space.

So, I’m not rushing out of this season.

I’m listening.
I’m learning.
I’m healing.
I’m preparing.
I’m becoming.

Because when God assigns you to Q.U.I.E.T., you don’t have to make noise to prove you’re still moving.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is hush… and let God work. 🤫🙏🏽

Loving you with all of me. Just B. 💜

THROUGH IT ALL… SMILE. 😊

Transition is a strange place.

You’re no longer where you were, but you haven’t quite arrived at where you’re going.

Some things don’t fit anymore.
Some people don’t feel the same anymore.
Some doors have closed without explanation, while others haven’t opened… yet.

And somewhere in the middle of releasing, rebuilding, repositioning, and becoming—you still have to live.

So, through it all… SMILE.

Not because everything feels good.
Not because you understand everything.
Not because you haven’t cried, questioned, grieved, or grown tired.

Smile because you’re still here.

Smile because what changed didn’t destroy you.
Smile because what left made room.
Smile because what didn’t work taught you something.
Smile because God is still writing your story—even in the chapters you wouldn’t have chosen.

Transition has taught me that sometimes you have to say goodbye to who you were to make room for who you’re becoming.

And becoming isn’t always pretty.

Sometimes becoming looks like tears.
Sometimes it looks like silence.
Sometimes it looks like starting over.
Sometimes it looks like standing still long enough to hear God say, “Trust Me.”

So I’m learning to embrace the in-between.

I may not know exactly where this transition is taking me, but I know Who is traveling with me.

And THAT gives me a reason to smile. 😊

Through the changes.
Through the losses.
Through the lessons.
Through the uncertainty.
Through the becoming.
Through it ALL… SMILE.

Because this transition just might be transporting you directly into the life you prayed for.

Loving you with all of me. Just B. 💛

Liberated. 🌿 One Year Natural.

One year ago, I made a decision that was about so much more than hair.

I stopped straddling the fence.

For a while, I held on to partially permed hair—some straight, some natural—trying to manage two textures while deciding which version of myself I was ready to fully embrace. Then I realized: transition requires release.

So, I let it go.

I released the chemically altered strands.
I released the need for my hair to behave a certain way.
I released the idea that one texture was more acceptable, professional, beautiful, or manageable than another.

And somewhere along the journey, I discovered that embracing my natural hair was teaching me something about embracing me.

The curls. The coils. The shrinkage. The gray. The unpredictable days. The versatility. The diversity. All of it belongs.

And baby, I learned something else along the way:

My hair wakes up like it went to bed! 😂

If I lay down without preparing it, it wakes up just as unprepared for the day—requiring more time, more effort, more pulling, tugging and taming.

But when I take the time to massage it, moisturize it, twist it, braid it and prepare it before I rest, it rises differently.

**Ready to shine.**

Whew! Ain't that LIFE?

How often do we lie down without preparing for where we're trying to go? Then wake up frustrated because everything feels tangled and requires more energy to manage.

My natural hair taught me: prepare for it.

Prepare for the morning.
Prepare for the opportunity.
Prepare for the transition.
Prepare for the life you're praying for.

What we do in our resting and preparation seasons often determines how ready we are when it's time to rise and shine.

Still, here's the beautiful contradiction:

I am not my hair.

My hair doesn't determine my beauty, worth, professionalism, femininity, or identity. Yet choosing to wear it naturally has become another way I've given myself permission to simply BE.

This year wasn't just a hair transition.

It was liberation. Diversity. Preparation. Acceptance. Becoming.

A year later, I'm still learning my hair.
Still learning myself.
Still preparing.
Still becoming.

Natural. Unapologetic. Prepared. Free.

And learning to love every part of the crown—and the woman—I'm responsible for caring for. 👑🤎

Loving you with all of me. Just B.

August: Make Room to Breathe

August has a way of reminding us that seasons shift. Summer begins to loosen its grip, routines return, calendars fill, and life starts asking, What’s next?

But before you answer—breathe.

Not every open space needs to be filled.
Not every invitation requires a yes.
Not every burden belongs to you.
And not everything you carried into August needs to leave with you.

Sometimes caring for your mental and emotional well-being means recognizing when your mind needs quiet, your body needs rest, and your spirit needs room.

God never asked you to prove your strength by carrying everything alone.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

So, for the remainder of August:

Release what is draining you.
Rest without explaining yourself.
Reconnect with what gives you life.
Reach out when the weight becomes too heavy.
Receive the grace to simply be.

You don’t always need to figure it out.
You don’t always need to hold it together.
Sometimes you just need room to Breathe. Believe. Be.

Take care of your mind. Guard your heart. Rest your body. Feed your spirit.

And give yourself permission to Just B.

Loving you with all of me. Just B. 💚

A diamond is merely a lump of coal that did well under pressure. I am merely a lump... that's still becoming.

There's a version of this story we don't like to sit with — that a diamond doesn't happen at the surface. It happens miles underground, under heat and weight that would crush most things, over time nobody rushes.

I think about that when life feels like too much pressure and not enough progress. When the season is long and the "why" doesn't have an answer yet.
Here's what I've come to believe: the pressure isn't the interruption to your story — it is the story. It's not evidence that you're falling apart. It's evidence that something in you is being formed.

You don't owe anyone a finished, polished version of yourself right now. You're allowed to still be a lump. You're allowed to still be under pressure. What matters is that you keep showing up in it, letting it shape you instead of shatter you.

One day, what felt like weight will look like worth. Until then — do it anyway.

💎 What pressure are you under right now that might actually be shaping you?

Loving you with all of me. Just B

👑 Welcome, August.

There's a majesty to you that other months only imitate.

You don't rush in — you arrive. Gold-tipped and sun-warmed, carrying the weight of a summer well-lived and the quiet authority of a season about to turn.

August, you are the month of harvest before harvest — the pause between what was planted and what is about to be gathered. You ask us to stand a little taller, root a little deeper, and trust that everything sown in silence is still growing.

So we welcome you the way we'd welcome royalty: with reverence, not resistance.

This month, we walk with purpose. We honor the process. We remember that our becoming has never needed to be loud to be legitimate.

Here's to a month that commands respect — because we do too. 🌾✨

The Treasure Was in Trash

Yesterday I told you about a prayer that ended with just three words: “God, show me." Here's what happened next.

As I snuggled in for the night, the sky opened up. Rain showers turned into a full downpour — wind blowing, thunder rolling, lightning flashing. I got up and opened the blinds just to watch God's fireworks light up the night.

And that's when it happened.

A familiar scent visited my nostrils. Garbage. But it had been hours since I'd touched the trash — why was I smelling it now?

I got up, turned on a light, and started walking toward the smell. It faded. Disappeared.

Hmm. *Are You speaking, Lord?*

I let it go and fell back asleep.

I woke up around 6am. "Good morning, Jesus!" I said, beginning my thanksgiving for a brand new day. And right there, in the middle of my gratitude — that same subtle whiff of garbage visited again.

I heard You that time, Lord.

So I suited up. Gloves. Mask. A transfer bag. A search stick. I was going in.

There were two trash bags in the can. I picked the less offensive one first — went through it piece by piece, item by item. Nothing.

Then there was the other one. Old food. Flies. Everything in me did not want to touch that bag.

But I picked it up anyway. Held my breath. Started transferring the decomposed mess from one bag to the other, piece by piece, asking, "God, why? Why am I back in this stinky trash again?"

Just as I was ready to give up —

There it was.

Sitting right there. Not wrapped in a napkin. Not buried in a bag. Not covered by decomposition. Untouched. Whole. Exactly as I'd left it.

How was that even possible? Why didn't I see it the first time?

Here's what I know now: sometimes God doesn't lead us around the mess — He leads us straight through it, because that's exactly where the treasure is waiting.

I didn't want to touch that bag. I almost didn't. But the very thing I wanted to avoid was standing between me and what I'd been praying for.

So if you're in a season right now where the search has gotten uncomfortable, unpleasant, even a little disgusting — don't stop before the treasure. Sometimes obedience smells like garbage before it looks like breakthrough.

He led me by scent, in the middle of a storm, to something I thought was gone for good.

God, show me turned into God, showed me.

💬 Has God ever led you through something uncomfortable to get you to something you needed? Tell me below — I want to hear it.
