The GA State Adult/Sr Open will be a terrific event at Peachtree City Tennis Center. Curtis Quandt & Jonathan Fralick have great plans for a “Players Tournament”. The Open Divisions will have $$ money and be played on hard courts. The Sr Events will be on clay. Please spread the word and plan on playing! It will be fabulous to again have a showcase tournament. July 30-Aug 2 (Aug 3 is a rain date)
Let’s make it a superb event!

Unfortunately, due to restrictions by the City of Atlanta, the Friends of Bitsy Grant can not put on a first class, player friendly tournament with the player amenities worthy of a grand GA St Adult/Sr Championship as we have done so well in the past. We regret that we have no choice but to cancel hosting this event.

The Tennis Community lost a great one way too early with the passing of Eben Hardie. We are all shocked and saddened to no longer be able to see his smiling face, wonderful demeanor; and championship play. He will be greatly missed ....

Important Update on
Bitsy Grant Tennis Center's Management Contract

For the past 9 years, Universal Tennis Management (UTM) has managed Bitsy Grant and four other City of Atlanta tennis facilities. The Friends of Bitsy Grant Tennis have worked closely with UTM staff on many successful projects.

The management contract is currently being rebid for a new five-year term, plus possibly two five-year options. Last week, the City of Atlanta Procurement Department recommended entering into negotiations for a new contract with Agape, another bidder who manages DeKalb Tennis Center. UTM has filed a protest and a decision is expected by the Chief Procurement Officer (David Wilson) early next week.

Many Bitsy patrons have voiced and written comments about the potential change in management.

If you would like to comment on the bid to city officials (the procurement office, city council and others), their email addresses are below. Additional contact information can be found at the City of Atlanta and Atlanta City Council websites. A petition is also available on-site at Bitsy in support of UTM if you are interested.

Thank you for your continued support and interest in the Bitsy Grant Tennis Center!
