It is with heavy hearts we are announcing the gym closing on August 27th, 2022.
For the last four years, Mythos 150 Fitness has committed to creating empowering health and fitness experiences to make you the hero of your own story. Over 1000 people have been through our doors in one way or another, and through them we had the opportunity to influence thousands more.
While we are sad to be closing, we are proud of the work that has been done, the lives that have been changed, the community that has been fostered.
As this chapter closes on the story of Mythos, we can’t wait to see hundreds of new stories begin.

Pushing through a difficult workout mirrors life so well. Enduring discomfort, fighting limiting beliefs, making changes on the fly.
Many people come into the gym thinking they are there for physical fitness. Often the biggest benefit though is the ability to handle what life throws at us.

Catchphrase Wednesday: Create Tension.
When you are lifting something (a barbell, laundry basket, a kid, suitcase), bracing your body in preparation for that lift is one of the easiest ways you can keep yourself safe.
One of the best mantras to have is
‘Create Tension’. Take a big breath in, flex your abs, tighten your muscles, straighten your spine. Doing these small adjustments will put you in an optimal spot to lift.
Next time you are lifting something, if you feel loose and relaxed, take a moment to create some tension and THEN lift it.

Sometimes, you just have to dig a little bit deeper, lean into the discomfort, and go full send.

Catchphrase Wednesday: Rest Harder.
Let’s be real. A lot of us come to the gym to improve. Whether its improving your strength, energy, mental health, body composition, or connection with your community, most of us go into the gym to get better.
Many of us want to get there FAST. And living in a culture that encourages more more more makes us think that if we do MORE fitness, we will get all those things faster.
This is unfortunately just not true. Two a days, working out 7 days a week, having multiple gym memberships, and doing extra abs before bed are not the answer.
The answer is to rest harder. Sleep better. Meditate, epsom salt bath, disconnect from your phone, SLOW DOWN. The person who adds an hour of sleep to their day will benefit much more than the person who adds a second hour of fitness.
If you want to get better, let yourself rest harder.

Hey you, sitting on the couch scrolling through Instagram fighting Sunday scaries. What if I told you that you could unlock all the experiences life has for you?
The ability to climb mountains, swim with sharks, paraglide, dance until dawn, raise kids/pets, and be strong enough to help your grandmother move her couch.
What if all those things were right at your fingertips and you could do any of them at a moments notice?
That is functional fitness. Creating a body, mind, and spirit ready for the adventure and the journey. Not worried about looking a certain way or lifting a certain amount, but instead being able to fully live.

Catchphrase Wednesday: It’s Your Workout.
Never let anyone tell you different. You get to choose what weights you lift, what intensity you choose, if you need to stop and rest. You have agency over your body and that especially includes in the gym.
If you want a coach to encourage you and push you, ask for that. If you need to slow down, let them know. You never have to ask permission to do what your body needs though. Make the workout your own.

Morning or Evening workout?
This is one of the great debates in the fitness industry. You will hear people talking about fasted cardio, optimal strength levels, and a million other factors. The answer is easy though.
Whichever when you can do consistently. If you don’t like getting up early, shoot for afternoon classes. If you always run into extra work late in the day, shoot for mornings to guarantee you make it in.
Any small difference one may give you in increased fitness will be massively overshadowed by you coming in consistently.
We offer 35 group classes per week and personal training around YOUR schedule. Want to hop in? Grab a No Sweat Intro (link in bio).

Catchphrase Wednesday: Same Sh*t. Different Shirt.
The fitness industry, specifically the product side, comes up with a new gadget, diet plan, detox, or program every day. It is so crowded with the noise of new movements and wacky fixes that its nearly impossible to find how to get results.
Its really simple. Strength train 3x or more per week. Drink enough water (half your bodyweight in ounces). Sleep in a manner that supports recovery. Eat enough to fuel activity (specifically protein).
ANYTHING else is a distraction. The trick is doing the same sh*t every single day. You are just wearing a different shirt.
