The Winship 5K run/walk supports cancer research at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. The 2024 Winship 5K will take place on September 28.

A Peachtree Road Race qualifier, the Winship 5K is a premier fall race/walk in Atlanta that takes place in historic and beautiful Druid Hills on the Emory University campus and surrounding area. Funds raised support cancer research at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.

For Alia Martinez, the Winship 5K is more than a race — it’s a celebration of what she gets to do.

After facing ovarian cancer at 22 and breast cancer 14 years later, Alia has participated in the Winship 5K every year since it began in 2011.

“I get to run. Not everybody gets to run. Not everybody even gets to walk.”

Tomorrow, we’ll come together again for the Winship 5K, taking steps toward advances in cancer research and care — and celebrating patients and survivors like Alia who inspire us along the way. 💙
