The Winship 5K run/walk supports cancer research at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. The 2024 Winship 5K will take place on September 28.
A Peachtree Road Race qualifier, the Winship 5K is a premier fall race/walk in Atlanta that takes place in historic and beautiful Druid Hills on the Emory University campus and surrounding area. Funds raised support cancer research at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.

“For a long time, I carried so much anger from the trauma of cancer — it’s isolating, and people don’t always understand. But at the 5K this weekend, surrounded by other survivors, I felt something different. When I looked into another survivor’s eyes, I realized maybe I’ve moved past anger. This past Wednesday, Gail Grimmett and Kimi Cottmeyer joined us to deliver 2025 5K race shirts 👕 to patients on Winship’s BMT floors. Thanks to Kimi’s gift 🎁, we provided 150 extra shirts so patients knew runners are racing for them tomorrow! 🏃♂️🏃♀️
