IS YOUR TEACHER MEAN?
MEAN IS NOT THE SAME AS TOUGH.

I am a demanding, exacting teacher with high expectations of my students and myself. I speak candidly and directly. I try not to infuse too much of my own emotions into my tone.

Occasionally, students and their parents have confused that with being mean.

Don’t make that mistake.

Mean teachers insult students, belittle them, and punish them.

Demanding teachers tell students exactly what they expect, and in a forthright, calm way, point out when they’re not meeting their potential. They also offer students suggestions and guidance on how to meet their potential.

Any teacher can be one or the other. Or both. But they are not the same thing.

Nobody benefits from a teacher fawning over a student’s work when there has been no effort or improvement. Even young students are smart enough to know when an adult is being insincere. Show students the respect of your honesty.

Teachers can be kind and make vigorous demands of their students at the same time!

This is a great neighborhood fundraiser, sipping and strolling. There is also live music and MAA with Community Music Centers of Atlanta and Horizons Kids will be performing on the lawn of Inman Park Church.

As a part of your Halloween festivities, we hope you will add the 9th Annual Inman Park Lil’ Pumpkins Halloween Parade & Costume Contest on your schedule. This year’s event will be on Saturday, October 31st from 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm in Poplar Circle, the section of Freedom Park just north of the MARTA station at the intersection of Hurt Street and Euclid Avenue. Here is this year’s schedule:

4:30 pm – Games & Fun
5:00 pm – Costume Contest
5:30 pm – Parade Step Off (led by the Midtown Highschool Drum Corps!)

This year there will be loads of pre-parade fun: games, activities, a story corner and a dance lesson of Thriller. King of Pops will be at the circle. And of course, hallowed DJ Reaper will be playing the spooky tunes! There will also be free limited edition gift bags of fun swag for the first 100 Lil’ Pumpkins in attendance.

Movement Arts Atlanta is proud to support this event along side Inman Park Cooperative Preschool, Community Music Centers, Contact Point, Horizons Kids, Freedom Park Preschool, Freedom Park Conservancy and Little Art School. These neighborhood businesses and organizations are making it possible for Inman Park neighborhood’s Halloween to be just a bit more Spooktacular!

Inman Park 9th Lil' Pumpkins Halloween Parade & Costume Contest

Calling all Lil' Pumpkin! Have your families put the 9th Annual Inman Park Halloween Parade & Costume Contest on your schedule for Saturday, October 31st from 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm. There will be fun activities including games, storytelling and dancing. Then there will be a costume contest and parade led by a drum corps. The first 100 Lil' Pumpkins in attendance will receive a free gift bag with gifts from our sponsors.

The Inman Park Lil' Pumpkins Halloween Parade & Costume Contest is a program of the Inman Park Neighborhood Association. It is presented with the generous support of the Inman Park Cooperative Preschool, Movement Arts Atlanta, Community Music Centers, Contact Point, Horizons Kids, Freedom Park Preschool, Freedom Park Conservancy and Little Art School.
