Chinese American Journeys – a special performance by the Atlanta Chinese Dance Company!

Atlanta Chinese Dance Company (ACDC) presents Chinese American Journeys, a breathtaking evening of original dance theater at Emory Performing Arts Studio (PAS) on Saturday, August 15 (8 PM) and Sunday, August 16 (3 PM).
The production is choreographed by ACDC Co-Artistic Kerry Lee – a Dance/USA Artist Fellow in Atlanta. Under her direction, Chinese American stories come alive through the dazzling art of Chinese dance: long silk ribbons slicing wide arcs through the air, the crack and flutter of fans opening, and movement that fuses centuries-old tradition with contemporary dance, ballet, and martial arts.
For the first time, ACDC devotes a full-evening to original work amplifying modern American cultural stories in three mini dance dramas:
🏮 “Votes for Women” — inspired by Mabel Ping-Hua Lee, the Chinese American teenager who led a 10,000-person march up New York's Fifth Avenue in 1912.
🏮 “Ribbon Dance of Empowerment” — one girl's journey to self-acceptance and confidence growing up Chinese American in the South.
🏮 “We Belong Here” — a stirring celebration of community, resilience, and coming together.
As Georgia's first nonprofit Chinese dance company, dancers are thrilled to bring world-class artistry to the heart of the city. It’s a showcase of culture, a feast for the eyes, and a story of how we find where we belong. Audiences from all backgrounds are welcome.
