I recently saw this quote and it resonated for me deeply. I have a few things in my life I *know* I should give up, that I need to give up….and yet I’m grasping on for some reason. Why?!? I think ultimately fear, fear of letting go, fear of the ‘what ifs…’
Even though my brain knows it’s the right thing, even though I KNOW giving up what don’t serve me creates space to find the things that do…my heart and body are fighting it.
To be human….such a a curious journey.
What is your sign it’s time to walk away from something?
What tools do you use to help manage the emotion surrounding it?

April is Stress Awareness Month. In case you weren’t aware of your stress you have a whole month to become aware 😉 My theme for classes is balance. Today, I practiced what I preach by drinking an expresso while teaching yoga 🤪

Breath is one of the most direct ways to support the nervous system, to calm ourselves down, to give us pause so we can respond thoughtfully rather than react unconsciously out of habit. When we breathe slowly, especially on the exhale, we signal safety to the body. Over time, breathwork can help reduce stress and improve emotional regulation.
Try this calming breath:
4️⃣ Inhale for 4
6️⃣ Exhale for 6
5️⃣ Repeat 5 rounds.
If counting feels stressful, simplify: Just make your exhale slightly longer than your inhale.

Yoga can feel intimidating to the newcomer.
You don’t need to touch your toes, balance in a handstand, or hold plank for 23 minutes.
You just have to show up.

Our habits reflect our nervous system patterns. The brain chooses what is familiar because familiarity feels safe, which is especially true when we are under stress. And, the ways we have responded in the past have created pretty strong neural pathways in our brain.
Think of it like this: if you walked the same path in the woods every day, that pathway becomes more defined. This is *exactly* what is happening in your brain. To break this pattern, this pathway, you have to make an effortful conscious choice to do differently, to walk a differently path repeatedly which can be very hard to do.
A helpful way to approach habit awareness is to remove shame and add curiosity.
Try this:
💜 What is a trigger in my life?
💙 How do I respond automatically? What relief does this reaction give me?
💚 What do I actually need at that moment?
💛 What other choices do I have?
Yoga helps because it increases awareness. Breath helps because it creates a pause. And when you can pause, you can choose. You do not need to change everything. Start by noticing one pattern, and approach it with kindness and curiosity.

Strength & Stretch class with Rachel of Wise Up Wellness combines traditional yoga poses and flows along with sequences inspired from other movement modalities such as Pilates and dance. The result of this thoughtfully designed eclectic fusion is a dynamic class with a focus on enhancing participants’ mobility and stability, plus strengthening and stretching from crown to toe! Progressive and buildable, and suitable for all levels.
In the 6:30 Yin class, we take fewer poses (6 to 8 in the whole hour) but hold them for longer periods. These are not challenging poses where we build muscular strength. Instead, we relax the muscles to stretch & target the connective tissues of the body. It is a more relaxing practice; we stay seated the entire time. It’s ideal for those who are stressed, overwhelmed, anxious, or frazzled with life.

Spring reminds us that growth is gradual. Nothing in nature blooms overnight. It unfolds when the right conditions support it. Humans are similar. We grow when we have enough rest, safety, nourishment, and patience.
If you feel behind, try reframing:
➡ I am not behind. I am exactly where I am meant to be.
A supportive question:
➡ What is one small way I can care for myself this weekend?
Small acts of self care and compassion is how sustainable change happens.

🌟 NEW CLASS ALERT 🌟
Yoga Foundations: Strength, Balance, and Breath
Starts tonight and meets every Wednesday 5:30 to 6:30 pm
This slower-paced yoga class focuses on the essential building blocks of yoga: posture, breath, strength, and flexibility. We move through a variety of standing, seated, and floor poses, holding each one for longer periods to promote strength as well as connection between mind and body. You’ll be guided through simple movements interspersed with mindful breathing and short moments of relaxation so you can release tension and leave feeling grounded and refreshed.
This class is perfect for beginners, anyone returning to movement, or anyone who simply wants a slower, more intentional practice.
Like all classes at Honey Bee, you can expect a supportive, welcoming environment where you can move at your own pace and learn tools that support both your physical and mental wellbeing. Come as you are, breathe deeply, and give yourself the space to reset.
