LPRGC's second Sanctioned CMP match brought a full line with 3 shooters new to the Club and a few more returning from last month. In addition, we saw 9 shooters participating in the non-Sanctioned match, including the father and daughter duo shown here. We expect both to be in the Sanctioned match soon!

Our Monday night archery league started this past Monday - and you haven't missed anything YET!

Here's why: only your best 6 of 10 weeks count toward the standings. Sit out week one and it costs you nothing. Show up next Monday and you're right in it with everyone else.

MEMBERS ONLY | MONDAYS AT 6:30 PM | $50 FOR THE SEASON | THROUGH NOVEMBER 9

We're shooting the Lancaster round: 30 arrows at 18 meters on a 40cm face, with the inner X counting 11 instead of 10. A perfect night is 330. Ten ends of three, about an hour on the line.

Compound, recurve and youth divisions - so you're shooting against people with the same setup you have.

The season finishes with shoot-up finals on November 16. Top 5 in each division come back for head-to-head matches, and the 12-ring is in play. Call it before you shoot it and it's worth two more than an 11.

Never shot an indoor league before? Come anyway. Bring your bow and at least 6 arrows. We have the bales, the faces and the racks, and there's always someone happy to walk a new archer through scoring.

Some good news to share.

Lower Providence Rod and Gun Club has been awarded a 2026 grant through the Pennsylvania Game Commission's Shooting Range Improvement Program, and it is going toward expanding our indoor archery range.

Ten clubs were selected across Pennsylvania this year, four of them here in the southeast. The program is putting 500,000 dollars into aging range infrastructure statewide, with a maximum of 50,000 dollars per club.

Our indoor archery building is one of the things we are proudest of. It is climate controlled, so our archers shoot 20 yards year round no matter the weather, and the range is USA Archery certified. It is where our JOAD and S3DA youth athletes train, and where we host USA Archery events through the winter. It also stays busy enough that space is genuinely tight.

This grant helps us do something about that.

Thank you to Pennsylvania Game Commission, and to the members who put the application together. We will share more about what the expansion includes as the project moves forward.

Women on Target — Sh***un Edition!

Today the LPRGC Women's Group hit the trap field, and what a day it was.

We started where we always start — safety. From there our shooters worked through the fundamentals of trapshooting: stance, grip, eye position, and hold points. Then we put it all together and taught them how to shoot a full round of trap, including how to lead a squad.

The result? Safe shooters, big smiles, and a whole lot of broken clays.

A huge thank you to our instructors and volunteers who made today happen, and to every lady who stepped up to the line. You crushed it.

The Women's Group holds events all year long — introduction to fi****ms, archery, trap, red dot pistol and r***e, and more. All are welcome, and we'd love to have you at the next one.

Mark your calendars!

The 2026 LPRGC Trap Championships will be held on Sunday, September 13. This is our biggest trap event of the year and tons of trophies are up for grabs. Complimentary food for all shooters and volunteers.

At last Saturday's Civilian Marksmanship Program match at LPRGC, the club conducted its very first CMP-sanctioned match for experienced marksmen. Eight shooters participated in the sanctioned match and registered great scores, with Andrew Schildt taking top honors for the day. Our second match, for newer shooters, brought 10 shooters to the line, with scores for four of them submitted to the CMP as well. Caitlyn Skripek took top score in the second match, in her very first sanctioned CMP match! Our matches are open to the public, so come on out and join us for a great day of shooting!

At Tuesday's General Meeting of the Lower Providence Rod and Gun Club (LPRGC), Frank Tait presents a plaque to Andrew Schildt in recognition of his Distinguished Rifleman Badge, which he earned last week by taking his final leg points at the CMP National Matches at Camp Perry, OH.

Monthly Sanctioned and Non-Sanctioned CMP Matches are Coming to Lower Providence Rod & Gun Club

Beginning August 1, 2026, the Lower Providence Rod & Gun Club will host both sanctioned CMP non-EIC and non-sanctioned matches on the 1st Saturday of every month at our 100-yard r***e range. Whether you're a seasoned competitor or shooting your first match, all skill levels are welcome. Match details, course of fire, and event information can be found in the flyer.

CMP Shooters with a Number and Classification, 8:00AM
Open Match starts at 9:30 AM for all experience levels.
