Today is Swami Sivananda’s Mahasamadhi, the day our beloved teacher consciously left his physical body.
In the yogic tradition, we don’t see Mahasamadhi simply as the day someone died. We honor it as the culmination of a life fully dedicated to Truth, service, love, and God—a reminder of what a human life can become when it is lived with sincerity and unwavering practice.
As I was reflecting this morning, I couldn’t help but think about our virtue for this month: Sincerity & Authenticity.
There is no greater way to honor our teacher or our lineage than by practicing.
Not by talking about yoga.
Not by collecting more philosophy.
But by stepping onto our mat.
By serving.
By breathing consciously.
By living our practice one choice at a time.
Our lineage isn’t something we simply inherit. It’s something we embody.
So tonight, at 5:30 PM, we’ll gather together—not just for another yoga class, but as a small offering of gratitude to the teachers who preserved these teachings and passed them on with such generosity.
I would love to practice with you.
Let’s honor together.
Let’s breathe together.
Let’s remember together.
Om Tat Sat. ✨🙏🏼🧡

You are welcome here. 🤍
Whether you’ve been practicing yoga for years or you’ve never stepped on a mat before, there’s a place for you at Downtown Yoga & Healing Arts.
Walking into a new studio can feel intimidating. We get it. That’s why we’ve worked hard to create a space where everyone is greeted with kindness, supported in their practice, and encouraged to move at their own pace.
We also keep it simple.
✨ Drop-in classes are just $15.
✨ We have mats, blocks, straps, bolsters, blankets, chairs, and other props ready for you.
✨ Forgot something? We’ve probably got you covered.
✨ The studio is air-conditioned for your comfort—unless you’re joining one of our heated classes, where we’ve got the warmth covered, too.
Really, the only things you need to bring are a water bottle, comfortable clothes, and an open mind.
We’ll take care of the rest.
We can’t wait to welcome you.

If you were in class Saturday morning, you know exactly what that means. 🤣
Sometimes the hardest part isn’t strength or flexibility—it’s deciding to try.
Amanda’s cue was simple:
“Grab it & go.”
Maybe your leg reaches hip height.
Maybe it doesn’t.
Maybe you need a bend in your knee.
Maybe you use a strap.
None of that matters.
Growth begins the moment you stop waiting until you’re “ready” and simply give yourself permission to practice.
That’s the beauty of yoga. We don’t arrive—we explore.
💛 Thanks, Amanda, for another thoughtful class and a reminder that sometimes the simplest cues stay with us the longest.
Today’s first Hot Detox Flow left us sweaty, smiling, and somehow both energized and grounded.
I meant to snap a quick post right afterward… but then conversations started, laughter lingered, and before I knew it, ninety minutes had passed.
That’s one of my favorite things about this place.
Today’s practice reminded me of one of my favorite Yoga Sūtras:
“Sthira Sukham Āsanam.” (Yoga Sūtra II.46)
Steady.
Easeful.
The posture—and perhaps life itself—is found in the balance between effort and ease.
Japa’s class embodied that beautifully today. Slow and steady. Strong without force. Challenging without hurry. A practice that invited us to shake off the week and step into the weekend feeling a little lighter.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our very first Friday Hot Detox Flow.
I have a feeling this is going to become a beautiful DTY tradition.
See you next Friday. 🔥
