September 11, 2001 🇺🇸
Not one of the athletes who walks through the doors of our gym today was alive when the events of September 11th took place. To them, 9/11 is something they learn about in school, see in photographs, and hear about through the stories of those who remember.
And yet, it is a day that has unknowingly shaped the world they have grown up in and so much of the country they call home.
Today, we remember the lives that were lost, the families forever changed, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the countless ordinary Americans who showed extraordinary courage.
We also remember what happened in the days that followed.
In the midst of unimaginable tragedy, Americans came together. Strangers helped strangers. Communities cared for one another. Differences seemed smaller. Flags hung from homes and businesses, and people were reminded just how much it meant to stand beside one another.
For the generations who weren’t here to witness that time, perhaps one of the most important things we can pass down is that part of the story.
We are incredibly fortunate to call this country home. It isn’t perfect, and neither are we, but history has shown us that even through tragedy and chaos, we are capable of coming together with incredible courage, compassion, strength, and love.
May we never forget those we lost. May we never take our freedoms for granted. And may we always carry a little of the love and togetherness this country showed in the days after September 11th in our hearts, not only today, but every day.
We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸
