Anybody can exercise, because exercise can be almost any physical activity. But TRAINING is different. Training means using SPECIFIC EXERCISES, METHODS, to PRODUCE A SPECIFIC RESULT. A powerlifter trains to get stronger, a bodybuilder trains to build size and symmetry, a gymnast trains for skill and control, and athletes in basketball, football, and baseball train their bodies for the demands of their sport. They are not just moving randomly or “getting exercise”; they are following A SYSTEM DESIGNED TO MAKE THE BODY BETTER AT A SPECIFIC PURPOSE. That is the difference between simply exercising and truly training.

High visceral fat is the deep belly fat stored around the organs, not just the soft fat under the skin. It is dangerous because it acts like an active organ that can increase inflammation, insulin resistance, blood pressure, cholesterol problems, fatty liver, type 2 diabetes risk, heart disease risk, stroke risk, sleep apnea, and low energy.

The problem is not just how someone looks; it is what is happening inside the body. A hard, pushed-out belly usually means the body is storing fat in the worst place: around the liver, intestines, and other organs, which puts more stress on the heart, metabolism, joints, hormones, and overall health.

The best way to reduce it is consistent calorie control, high protein, strength training, and daily walking. Brisk walking with intervals is excellent: walk at a good pace, then add short faster pushes, repeat daily or most days, and combine it with better food choices.

REGULAR EXERCISE—BOTH AEROBIC AND RESISTANCE—SLOWS AGE-RELATED COGNITIVE DECLINE by improving brain structure and function. Aerobic activity boosts blood flow, cardiovascular health, insulin sensitivity, and neurotrophic factors like BDNF [Brain-derived neurotrophic factor], supporting neuron survival and neuroplasticity, especially in the hippocampus, which shrinks with age.
Resistance training helps by reducing neuroinflammation, improving brain glucose use, and preserving executive function, processing speed, and working memory.

Long-term studies and RCTs [randomized controlled trial] show older adults who exercise regularly have slower cognitive decline, lower dementia risk, and maintain functional independence longer than sedentary peers. Exercise is a highly effective non-drug method for brain health lifespan.¹²
