🦶✨ Did you know your feet play a major role in supporting your spine?

In Pilates, we train from the ground up. Every push, pull, and press through the foot on the Reformer connects directly to your posture, alignment, and spinal health. When your feet are strong and well-trained, they:

Improve balance and stability 🌿

Distribute weight evenly through your body ⚖️

Support healthy movement patterns that protect your spine 💪

Help reduce tension in the hips, back, and neck 🙌

Think of your feet as the foundation of your body—just like a house, a strong foundation means everything above it can stand tall, aligned, and supported.

So next time you’re on the Reformer, remember: every foot press is also spine care. 🩶

Kinesis is all about deepening our knowledge in order to provide the best instruction to our clients.

Here’s what’s Stephanie has been up to:

Stephanie just finished up her 2nd Session of Heritage Training with Cara Reeser. Cara learned under Kathy Grant who learned under Joseph Pilates himself.

“It’s been a joy and a privilege to learn with Cara and these other amazing participants”

Our class sizes are small but more importantly, our instruction is specific to you. We don’t teach choreographed routines, we teach to the bodies in front of us that day. We don’t worry about our playlists, we worry about your alignment. We don’t do the moves to get our own workout in, we get our hands on you to adjust your form. Quality matters!

What happens when Teaser and Hundred get together and make a baby? A hundred teasers!!

Congratulations to Stephanie on being the new super star studio owner of Kinesis Pilates! 🌟 Next time you’re in the studio, check out the wall. It’s filled with parts of all the reviews you’ve been leaving for us lately and it’s a testament to what Kinesis Pilates is, how it’s changing lives, and the community at the studio. Thank you Stephanie for ensuring the studio continues! And may studio ownership not feel like a hundred teasers…

p.s. Just like a real Pilates teacher, I didn’t actually count to one hundred. 😜

99 years ago today, Joseph Pilates immigrated to the United States. Some other amazing facts I recently learned from the book Get to Know Joe by Cathy Strack (highly recommended!)

💪 He didn’t lose his right eye in a boxing match. He lost it at the age of five when bullies beat him up. It was the start of a lifelong desire to be strong and defend himself.

💪 He lost four siblings and his mother by the age of 17. His own son, Hans Heinrich, died at the age of ten months. No wonder he wanted to help people be healthy.

💪 When he first started teaching in the U.S., he taught jiu jitsu, boxing, fencing, wrestling, and bag punching “scientifically taught.”

💪 Advertisements for his Wunda Chair said that it was designed to “pleasantly correct your present deplorable physical condition.”

💪 He and Clara sunbathed n**e at their cabin in the woods. They also owned a steam bath box. ☀️ 😅

💪 His barber claimed he had a face you wouldn’t believe. “There wasn’t a wrinkle on his face.”

💪 He only wore a sweater for photo shoots because Clara insisted he be clothed for his pictures. She obviously lost that battle much of the time. 😂

💪 Joe moved 16 times in the first 17 years of his life, living in newly built homes as they off gassed. This likely contributed to the lung issues that took his life, not just the cigar smoking alone.

We are all so lucky that Joseph Pilates decided to move to America and continue developing his ideas about fitness. He certainly has corrected my formerly deplorable physical condition.

If the history of Joseph Pilates interests you, I highly recommend Cathy Strack’s book Get to Know Joe! (2nd photo is from Joe’s certificate of citizenship from page 63 of the book. 1st photo is a recreation of a picture of Joe by the artist .)

Sophia and Stephanie are hard at work making sure the transition of business ownership goes smoothly and clients are minimally affected. Your packages are back to their usual expiration dates and everything will transfer from the former owner to the new owner with no impact on you. May classes will all stay the same just with new teachers. All you have to do is breathe and keep coming to Pilates!
