MEET THE LONGVIEW STAFF! Next up is Nancy, our instructor for private lessons, horsemanship lessons and our Women's Riding Group!

It’s time for another staff spotlight! Meet Nancy, one of our wonderful riding instructors here at Longview Stables! With a lifetime of experience, a passion for American Saddlebreds, and a love for sharing her knowledge with riders of all ages, Nancy is such a special part of our Longview family!

**Tell us a little about yourself and your role at Longview!**

Hi! I'm Nancy, and I'm a riding instructor at Longview Stables. My family has been part of Longview since 2005! My daughter began riding with Patty and Kayla when she was just five years old and went on to compete nationally under the Longview Stables banner.

**How did you first get involved with horses?**

I've loved horses my entire life! My journey with American Saddlebreds began in San Diego, where I worked with Helen and Jim Cherry. I later had the opportunity to work for Michelle McFarland, which led to one of the most incredible experiences of my life!

In 1998, I had the honor of representing the USA at the Winter Olympics closing ceremonies in Nagano, Japan, alongside 14 American Saddlebreds!

**Do you have a favorite horse?**

Anyone who knows me knows that our lesson horse Fancy holds a very, very special place in my heart!

My daughter's horse, Undulata's Trinket, has also become my heart horse.

But truthfully, there have been so many horses at Longview that I've absolutely fallen in love with over the years. Far too many to count or name! LOL!

**What is your favorite thing about being part of the Longview family?**

The people! All the kids, all the parents, and of course, the horses too!

It's the relationships, friendships, and wonderful people that make spending time at the barn so special.

**What's something people might not know about you?**

I was an avid surfer when I was younger!

We are so lucky to have Nancy as part of our Longview family! Her years of experience, love for horses, and dedication to helping riders learn and grow make her such a wonderful instructor and mentor.

Whether she's introducing someone to horses for the very first time or helping a rider build confidence, we are so lucky to have Nancy as a part of our Longview Family.

**Drop a ❤️ in the comments to show Nancy some love! And if you've had the opportunity to ride with her, we'd love to hear your favorite memory!**

One Barn. Two Passions. Endless Opportunities!

Did you know that Longview Stables is BOTH a competitive show barn AND a recreational riding and lesson barn? ❤️

We love the excitement of the show ring, but we also love the joy of someone sitting on a horse for the very first time!

Our Show Barn
For riders who dream of competing, we offer opportunities to develop their skills, build partnerships with their horses, and experience the excitement of the show ring. From training at home to cheering each other on at competitions, we love watching our riders and horses grow together!

Our Recreational & Lesson Program
Not everyone wants to show horses, and that’s perfectly okay! Whether you’re brand new to horses, returning to riding after years away, or simply looking for a fun activity, our lesson program offers a welcoming place to learn, build confidence, and enjoy time in the saddle.

The Best of Both Worlds
At Longview, we believe there is a place for EVERYONE in the barn. You don’t have to have dreams of blue ribbons to belong here. Some riders want to compete, some want to improve their skills, and others simply love spending time with horses.

Different goals. Different journeys. One barn family. ❤️

Whether your dream is to step into the show ring or just enjoy the ride, we’d love to welcome you to Longview Stables!

Time for another Rider Spotlight!

🐴 RIDER SPOTLIGHT: MEET BARB! 🐴

This week’s Rider Spotlight is Barb, one of our newer riders at Longview Stables! While Barb may be new to Longview, she definitely isn’t new to horses.

💕 How it all started:
Barb grew up riding English and has spent many years riding Western. She decided it was time to get back to her English riding roots and joined us at Longview!

🐎 Favorite Longview horse:
It’s still too early to choose! Barb is getting to know our horses and hasn’t picked a favorite just yet. We’ll have to check back with her on this one!

❤️ Favorite thing about the barn:
Barb was looking for more than just time in the saddle—she wanted riding and horsemanship guidance. Being able to groom, saddle, and learn more about things like the different types of bits is exactly what she was looking for.

⭐ Proudest accomplishment:
Rediscovering just how much she remembers from riding English so many years ago! And Barb says once she perfects standing up in the saddle, she’ll be pretty proud of that too!

🍀 Big goal:
Barb has a very specific—and pretty amazing—goal: to go to Ireland and ride! Since Western tack isn’t the norm there, getting comfortable riding English again is helping her work toward making that dream a reality.

We love that riding can be something you return to at any stage of life. Whether you're learning for the first time, building new skills, or rediscovering skills you learned years ago, there is always something new to experience with horses.

Welcome to the Longview family, Barb! We’re so glad you’re here and can’t wait to see where your riding journey takes you—maybe all the way to Ireland! 🇮🇪🐴

Below is a picture of Barb and one of the horses she rides out at her ranch.

How many do you recognize? And more importantly… who’s YOUR favorite? 👇

🍂🐴 HELLO, OCTOBER! 🐴🍂

Cooler mornings, fuzzy horses, beautiful Colorado fall days and plenty of time at the barn… October has arrived at Longview Stables! ❤️

We have lots of fun planned this month—from introducing you to more of our herd and Longview family to sharing rider accomplishments, barn life and, of course, plenty of American Saddlebreds!

Time for another Rider Spotlight!

RIDER SPOTLIGHT: MEET LINDSEY!

This week’s Rider Spotlight is Lindsey, who has been riding for 6 years and has practically grown up at Longview Stables!

💕 How it all started:
Lindsey’s love for horses started early—when she was just 3 or 4, she was already asking her mom to buy a farm so she could pet a horse! Her aunt and grandma found Longview Stables and gave her riding lessons for Christmas right before she turned 5. She’s been riding ever since!

🐎 Favorite horses:
Lindsey loves riding her horse William (Undulata's Crackin Up) because he’s a show horse and so much fun to ride. The bond between the 2 of them is fun to see. William has quite the funny personality too! She also loves Lightning, who she can relax and goof around with!

❤️ Favorite thing about the barn:
For Lindsey, it’s more than just riding. She loves everything she gets to learn, being around the horses, and especially the people and environment.

“It’s a great place to be!”

⭐ Proudest accomplishment:
Moving from Academy to Performance and having a great first show with William! That’s a pretty exciting milestone after years of hard work in the saddle.

🏆 Big dreams:
Lindsey has some BIG goals for the future! She would love to work toward showing Equitation at World’s—and maybe even bring home a World’s Championship in Park someday!

We love watching our riders grow from horse-loving little kids into confident young equestrians with big goals. Keep dreaming big and working hard, Lindsey! We can’t wait to see where you and William go next. ❤️🐴

MEET THE LONGVIEW STAFF! Next up is Kendall, our group riding instructor!!

1. Tell us a little about yourself and what you do at Longview Stables!

Hi! My name is Kendall! I am a riding instructor at Longview Stables. I work alongside an awesome team to ensure a fun, safe environment where riders can cultivate their love for horses while growing their skills and knowledge!

2. How did you first get involved with horses, and how long have they been part of your life?

I can’t think of a time when horses were not a part of my life. If someone asked me if I was raised in a barn, I’d probably just say yes. My great-aunt Patty owns Longview and my grandma brought me out to be introduced to horses at an age that I’m too young to even remember. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have the opportunities that I have over the years. From competing nationally on powerful American Saddlebreds to hanging out with our lesson horses, I’ve been blessed to call this place home. Being mentored by incredible horsewomen like Patty and Kayla
is something that I wouldn’t change for the world. Not only has it made me a better rider and instructor myself, but also a better person. Horses and good people have a way of bringing out
the best in you.

3. Do you have a favorite horse—past or present—and what makes them special to you?

While many horses have captured pieces of my heart along the way, there are some that can’t be described as anything other than special. Cloverleaf Turner Jake (TJ) was the most special horse I’ve ever worked with. He opened a world to me that I had never seen before. I have irreplaceable memories of competing at shows all over the country, including The World’s Championship Horse Show in Kentucky. I’d like to think he took care of me for a long time.
From a little nine year old entering a big show ring to an eighteen year old girl showing him for the last time, it was a bond I haven’t experienced since. He was a powerhouse and will always
hold the most special place in my heart.

Although I love all of our lesson horses at Longview, Goldie is my favorite. We rescued Goldie last summer. When she got here you wouldn’t have thought much of her, she was skin and bones.
After some good TLC, she got healthy and proved to be a beautiful mare. I got to work with her to integrate her into our lesson program, which has been really special and a new experience for
me. Everyone out at the barn knows that Goldie and I are pals. I’d like to think I’m her favorite too, but I suppose you’d have to ask her.

4. What is your favorite thing about being part of the Longview Stables family?

I always brag to people that I get to make money doing what I love. My favorite thing about being part of the Longview family is the people that make it one. My job may be to teach, but I’d
like to think that I learn just as many lessons as I give. The example set by Patty, Kayla, and Nancy has given me a strong work ethic and shown me that I’m capable of doing hard things,
which I wouldn’t give up for anything. Every lesson I get to hear so many different stories from excitement about new sparkly unicorns to hard work weeks. Whatever the day may have held for people, I don’t think words will ever be able to describe the joy I feel when someone’s face lights up as they walk through our doors. Plus, I get to hang out with horses for work!

5. What’s one fun fact about you that people at the barn might not know?

People at the barn may not know that I am a senior in college majoring in Psychology with a dual degree in clinical counseling. After getting my masters, my goal is to integrate my clinical
education with equine experience and work in equine assisted therapy!

Thank you, Colorado Arabian Horse Club!

A huge thank you to the Colorado Arabian Horse Club Fall AVS & All Breed Show for welcoming us and giving us the opportunity to show our American Saddlebreds.

It was a well run horse show in a great venue! We appreciate the warm welcome, hospitality, and opportunity to be a part of it.
