Last weekend, the University of Denver Taekwondo Club brought 10 athletes to the 2026 National Collegiate Taekwondo Association Collegiate National Championships (April 24-26), where more than 600 collegiate athletes from universities across the United States competed at the highest level of collegiate taekwondo.
Facing tough competition, the DU Taekwondo Club delivered an outstanding performance, bringing home 2 gold medals and 2 bronze medals.
The team is led by Head Coach, Master Sean Jung alongside Assistant Coach Iden Sheng. Over the years, US Taekwondo Center has proudly seen many of its students continue their martial arts journey at the University of Denver—both as competitors and graduates.
Taekwondo is truly a lifelong journey, proving that growth, learning, and competition don’t stop with age.

Over the weekend our students competed at the Colorado state championships hosted in Parker, Colorado, where over 300 athletes came together to compete against the best in CO!
We took 30 athletes and came back with over 45 medals!

The competition demo team got silver and our recreational demo team took home bronze!

Help us say congratulations to our team that went and competed at the 2026 US Open in beautiful Las Vegas over the weekend. The US Open is one of the toughest competitions in the United States and hosted over 3,000 athletes from all over the world this year.
Our team is bringing back some hardware!
Poomsae- the event was severly delayed with some athletes like Master Sean Jung competing at 10:30pm!

Valerie Larson - fell short in round of 128
Dodie Thompson - 🥈in pairs recognized and fell short in quarterfinals individual recognized (competed at 10:00pm!)
Grant Larson - 🥉in individual freestyle, outscoring athletes from Mexico, Brazil and Spain
Alexa Darlin - 🥈in pairs freestyle, outscoring athletes from Vietnam and 9th in individual outscoring athletes from Mexico, Ireland and Puerto Rico

Valerie Larson - fell short in the round of 32, point gapping Mexico in rd of 64 and then losing to Costa Rica
