Old Barn Basketball
Basketball Referee Association Old Barn Basketball is an IHSA recognized Basketball Officials Association.
We are adding new members every year with the goal of being able to service our community schools and local youth basketball associations. Most of our members reside in the western suburbs of Chicago. While membership consists of Grade School, Junior High, and High School basketball officials – our focus is Junior High and High School basketball officiating.

TIME TO RENEW YOUR OFFICIATING LICENSE: The IHSA annual officials renewal period will run from July 1 - 31. You can register in the IHSA Officials Center. The fee for one sport is $70. The fee for a second sport $20 and the fee for additional sports beyond two remains the same $15 per sport. Current officials who renew after July 31 will have a $30 late fee added to their registration. Officials who do not have a valid basketball officiating license with the IHSA on August 1, will have their CHSBA Arbiter account made inactive.

There are 2 options for the IHSA clinic:
May 19th – Level 1 / 2-person mechanics
May 20th – Level 2 / 3-person mechanics
Both dates will cover the same topics with emphasis placed on the mechanics of the date.
Both nights, the Zoom portal will open at 6:00pm, with the clinic starting approximately 6:30pm.

Reffing 13 games this weekend at the Oswego East Wolfpack youth basketball tournament. Over ninety teams, ten basketball courts.
Only youth tournament I know that posts Sportsmanship Rules, and they mean it...
Sportsmanship:
• Any player judged guilty of fighting or fouling with deliberate intent to injure will be ejected and suspended from next game.
• Referees are instructed to have ZERO tolerance for foul or abusive language from players, coaches, and or fans. They are instructed to issue immediate technical fouls and if necessary, ejections. This includes language not directed at referees, as well as language between coach and his/her own players.
• Coaches are responsible for parent’s behavior and may be issued technical fouls if language/behavior on part of parents warrants.
• Failure on part of coach, player or fan to promptly leave gym upon ejection will result in forfeiture of game. Tournament staff will assist refs when necessary and have the authority to eject fans when necessary. NO PROTEST ALLOWED – Referee’s decisions are final.
