As a studio we’re honoring Veterans Day by taking on the Burpees For Vets Challenge. This means for every dollar donated to our fundraiser, as a coaching staff we will be doing a burpee. (Hate burpees)

Impact!

50% of the funds raised go to benefit 5 high-impact veteran-focused nonprofits (more info about them on the in-studio flier!)

50% goes to help transitioning service members get the certifications they need to become F45 certified coaches

The best way to support is by scanning the QR code on our in-studio fundraiser flier (or the link below) and making a donation there!

This is your chance to get back at us! We’ve put you through some tough workouts in the past, this is your chance to put the workout on us and support an amazing cause at the same time!

Thank you.

Explosive movements

Performing reps of these metabolism-revving moves can be just as beneficial as an all-out sprint.

Box jumps (single- or double-legged) or single jumps are one of the main exercises in plyometric training or jump training. Not only do you burn a lot of calories through the explosive movements, you also work on endurance, strength, and coordination. At the same time, you train your body’s stability and mobility. By improving these two things, you will be more flexible, faster, and more agile. This will also boost your footspeed and help your balance.

Sharpening your coordination makes you better at other functional activities and helps you move through the day more securely and with fewer injuries. You will become more aware of your body and develop confidence.

Move Over CrossFit, Here Comes F45
The Australian fitness trend has made its way to the States.

Looking for new workout program where you can feel challenged, yet carefully guided by fitness experts? The Australian-born F45 program has been gaining major popularity overseas, and is now making its way to the U.S. We spoke with Rachel Darden, owner of F45 in Fairfield, Connecticut to learn more about this hot fitness trend.

What does F45 stand for?

F45 stands for Functional 45-minutes. Our workouts focus on functional movements, movements that mimic how we move in our daily lives. We squat, we lunge, we hinge, we rotate, we push, we pull and we walk. All of our workout programs, with the exception of “Hollywood” are 45 minutes of circuit based, high-intensity interval training.

Elevate Your Mood: The Mental Health Benefits of Exercise

When we think of exercise, we often imagine HIIT workouts, sweat-drenched sessions, and pursuing the body that makes us feel our best. Undeniably, fitness plays an important role in shaping our bodies, whether it’s shedding unwanted pounds, building muscle, or enhancing overall strength. But here’s a little secret: exercise is not just a muscle-maker, it’s a game-changer for your mind too!

In our fast-paced, stress-filled world, prioritizing our health and wellness is crucial. Recent studies, like the 2022 Wellness Index Survey by MindBody, show that a staggering 78% of respondents said that mental wellness is most important in their fitness routines, while an astonishing 77% said that being physically active helps improve their mental health. It’s clear that people are embracing exercise’s holistic benefits to enhance their overall quality of life.

So, what’s the scoop? Exercise offers a range of benefits that can level up our thinking and state of mind. Here are some ways it works its magic:

Improves Our Mood: Our brains release endorphins, neurotransmitters known as “feel-good” hormones. These chemicals make us feel good, boost our mood, reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, and increase energy levels, making us happier overall.
Enhances Cognitive Function: It can help us focus, pay attention, and remember things better.
Boosts Confidence and Body Image: When we exercise and see improvements in our fitness and appearance, it can boost our self-esteem and how we feel about our bodies.
Better Sleep: Exercise regulates our sleep patterns, helps us fall asleep faster, and improves the overall quality of our sleep.
Increases Resilience and Emotional Well-being: Being active can make us more resilient, enabling us to handle challenges and bounce back from difficult times. It gives us a sense of accomplishment, discipline, and confidence, leading to improved emotional well-being and a greater sense of control.

F45 vs Crossfit — F45 Review by an Experienced CrossFitter 09/20/2023

F45 vs CrossFit — F45 Review by a CrossFitter

F45 vs CrossFit - my detailed, 4,000-word F45 Review by an experienced CrossFitter after three months of training.

This is an F45 review by a middling CrossFit guy of a few years after having done F45 for three months at two gyms, both in Australia.

I was curious about F45 for years. After doing CrossFit for years at three gyms in Hong Kong, the US, and Australia (plus many drop-ins of a few visits each), I was intrigued by what other programs promising "functional movement training" could be effective for my mixed bag of goals.

I've tried poking around for F45 reviews on the internet. But I only find reviews comparing it unfavourably to CrossFit in terms of absolute fitness either can produce (a few people on Reddit saying that a middling regionals athlete is "better" than the best F45 can produce... but I don't care), reviews by bloggers who did F45 for a few days, or reviews by cult-like fans.

Destination Wellness: Nurturing Your Mind, Body, and Soul

In the fast-paced world we live in, stress and overstimulation have become all too familiar. As a result, there is a growing trend among travelers to seek vacations that prioritize self-care, mental wellbeing, and physical health. According to the American Express Travel 2023 Global Travel Trends Report, wellness travel is on the rise, with an increasing number of individuals looking for the perfect environment to nurture a healthy mind and body. Here are a couple reasons this trend is coming in hot:

Prioritizing Self-Care and Health: The world is more conscious than ever about the importance of overall health. According to the Global Travel Trends report, 72% of respondents revealed that they are more focused on self-care compared to a year ago. From sweating it out in a strength training session, to spas that pamper the senses, to meditation that calms the mind, health enthusiasts are looking for travel destinations that rejuvenate the body and nourish the soul.
Escaping the Hustle and Bustle: Many travelers are now seeking an escape from their busy lives, where they can disconnect from screens and the demands of daily routines. The report indicates that 75% of respondents are planning to decrease screen time while traveling to improve their mental health. This desire to unplug and unwind has led them to opt for destinations and resorts that encourage relaxation and rejuvenation.
Nature’s Healing: Nature has an incredible ability to heal and restore balance to our lives. A significant number of respondents (68%) are drawn to wellness travel destinations that allow them to immerse themselves in nature, enabling them to focus on mental clarity. Whether it’s hiking to explore, practicing yoga by the beach, or indulging in active outdoor activities, travelers are seeking the therapeutic effects of the natural world.

And fell in love with exercise

If you keep one eye on the latest fitness crazes sweeping the nation then there's a chance you will have heard about F45.

First popular in Australia, F45 - which stands for 'Functional 45' - promises its members chiselled abs in just two months of training. And due to the success stories the training regime delivered there, the F45 epidemic spread like wildfire, all the way over to our fine shores.

Using circuit and HIIT techniques, the trainers at F45 gyms run a range of cardio and strength-and-resistance-based classes (all 45-minutes-long) to burn fat, tone and build muscle.

"How I lost 7% body fat in just 8 weeks" I took on the F45 Challenge to see if it was worth all the fuss...
