Theory, History, & Principles of Chinese Martial Arts
A Three-Seminar Series w Master Jason
via Zoom or In-Person at South Austin Kung Fu

Sunday, Oct. 29, 1-3:30pm: Chinese Anatomy
Sunday, Nov. 5, 1-3:30pm: Yin Yang Theory
Sunday, Nov. 12, 1-3:30pm: Five Elements

Have you ever wondered why we chop to the neck and call it Stomach 9? Or what it means to move chi from dan tien through ming men to da zhui? What is Hua Ching really? This is your chance to get context and clarity for these underpinnings of our martial arts!!

Master Jason will teach seminars on Chinese Anatomy, Yin-Yang Theory, and Five Elements Theory as general concepts and as they relate to martial arts training. Read more about Master Jason's qualifications below!

The Chinese Anatomy Seminar will explore meridians and acupoints as well as specifics about how we use them in our training. Expect both lecture and movement-based experiential learning. You will leave with a better understanding of the general and specifics, as well as practical uses for martial arts training. This is a must for anyone training Kung Fu or Tai Chi!

Yin Yang Theory is a cornerstone of traditional Chinese thought. Developed over 2000 years ago, it is a lens through which the Chinese understood nature, science, government, health, and martial arts. Master Jason will explain what Yin Yang Theory is and where it came from, show examples of how it is used to understand the natural world and the physical body, and detail how it informs our martial arts practice.

The Five Elements Theory is a foundational way of understanding change in the universe. Developed and used by the ancient Chinese, this is a kind of sister theory to Yin-Yang theory. We will talk about how this theory informs martial arts, Feng Shui, philosophy, Chinese medicine, warfare, and more!
