Today, August 7th, is National Purple Heart Day. We honor and remember our soldiers who gave their all for our country. We especially honor Platoon Sgt. Henry Booth Metcalf, United States Marine Corps, the uncle of our owner. Platoon Sgt Metcalf was killed in action on November 11, 1943 during the battle of Bougainville in the Solomon Islands. Henry Metcalf survived the attack at Pearl Harbor, serving on the USS West Virginia on December 7, 1941. Our family will never forget his ultimate sacrifice for freedom. Semper Fi.
