I am very happy to say today is my official 13 YEAR FLOW ANNIVERSARY. This means that 13 years ago, I picked up a hoop (for the first time in my adult life) and took my first baby hoopstress step into this outrageously awesome life of flow. I believe (besides winning the parent lotto) that hoop dance and learning a moving meditation is what has brought me every good & true experience into my life since. I've learned and implemented a myriad of skills that have shaped me into the woman I am today. Seeing myself as powerful, strong, sexy, creative and willing to fail knowing it is part of the journey. Through hoop dance and the encouragement of others, I realized in this time that I am a dancer to my core. This realization has been so powerful for my somatic experiencing and processing emotions and trauma through movement. Such a simple thing, a plastic circle... however, in playing with it revealed my key to happiness. It unlocked passion within me for teaching, for living a creative life, for human connection. I am so so so grateful that I was seen fit to receive such a gift. In the darkness, it has been the light and a way back to myself. Since then, I have really fallen for silk fan flow and flow fans. Being a part of the PyroTex Fire Collective is a huge milestone in my journey too! It just all makes me so overwhelmed with love that I could just grateful cry.
With that being said, thank you to EVERYONE that has been a part of this journey and transformation with me. From the beginning days of Circle of Play to teaching on Rainey and at the University of Texas, to teaching kids camps in the summer. Thank you to my dancing queens and my fellow performers of PyroTex... it has all been my absolute pleasure! Thank you for seeing me and believing in me!
