There are moments that remind me that there are some really good people in this world and I am very lucky to be apart of their lives.
Recently one of my students farther passed away all of a sudden and my first instinct as a human, mentor and friend was what can I do to help. Normally I find that we have the power to make food, be a shoulder to lean on or a ear to listen and not much more. Usually we can only do so much as an individual but because of social media and the martial arts I was able to do something a little more. I was able to get the word out and all of you showed this young man just how important he is to so many people and that he is not alone. You showed him that there are good people who care and want to help.
Through the martial arts we are able to build a safe community and help protect each other. I love martial arts but what keeps me doing what I do is more than the art itself. It's the ability to be a rock for anyone who needs it. The dojang is a place I want to be stable and unwavering when chaos hits. Life is so unpredictable and no matter what happens, our community will be there.
I recently have seen people donate from all over. I even saw someone from a completely different association that I have only gotten to know through social media step up and help. That is so powerful and meaningful! I hope you know that myself and my school will always be there to help as well! Many of you have known me for awhile now and we have connected through social media. I post because of y'all. I try and post fun and positive content in hopes to make someone smile. But jokes aside, if you need me I'll be there.
I know that in today's society we feel very divided but in the martial arts community especially the traditional side I see a coming together that is growing every day! I feel like we are now becoming even closer than ever these last couple of years.
I am so proud to be a part of this community and want to thank everyone for your support for my students, my family and the martial arts community. You are the highest representation of what it means to be a martial artist. I'm am so proud to be amongst you all as teachers, school owners, and martial artist.
Thank you again for donating, sharing the word and sending your support. I know this means a lot to Luis JKN and his family. It also means so much to me and my school. Whenever I am having a rough time I try to find the light in the darkness, the little bit of positive in a time when nothing makes sense. Our community is something I always look for and hold on to. Y'all make a huge difference and I hope you know that. Again thank you. ❤️
