Celebrating the seniors who will soon be departing and honoring all they’ve contributed to our unit. We’re thankful for everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so meaningful. Special shoutout to MIDN Petteway for serving as OIC and making this event happen. Excited for all that’s ahead and proud of the memories we continue to build together. 🤘⚓️

✨First Class Friday ✨
Introducing MIDN Rhodes!
She is from Pensacola, Florida and will graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior. Previously, she held Color Guard Commander and Platoon Commander positions here in the Battalion. She’ll report to the USS New Orleans (LPD-18) out of Sasebo, Japan after BDOC in San Diego.
Some insight from MIDN Rhodes.
“I’m incredibly thankful for the opportunity the unit has provided me both through the Navy and by being here in Austin. I’ve met some of the most amazing people that I get to call friends, who’ve pushed me to be a better person and who’ve shown me what it means to be myself. I can leave Austin now knowing that I’m ready for the challenges ahead thanks to them.”

Introducing MIDN Nicholas!
She served as the Fall Battalion Commander and has also served as the Battalion Adjutant, NSO Platoon Commander, Supply Chief, and Platoon Commander. She is from Houston, Texas and will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering with additional studies in Russian and International Relations with a focus on Russia and Eastern Europe.
Some insight from MIDN Nicholas:
“Words cannot capture how grateful I am for the time and opportunities this program has given me. At the end of the day, it comes down to people, and the people in this program, both here at UT and across the nation, have made my college experience truly formative. I leave this battalion not only a better leader, but a better person. My advice is simple: embrace the discomfort, because the hard moments are where real, authentic growth happens; lead with humility, because the best leaders never stop learning; and above all, invest in relationships, not just networks.”

First Class Friday 🤘🤘
Introducing MIDN Lutz!
He is from Lincoln, Rhode Island and will graduate with a degree in Supply Chain Management with a minor in Mandarin. He served as the battalion’s Physical Training Officer. He will be heading to OCS this summer followed by TBS upon completing the former school.
A word of wisdom from MIDN Lutz:
“If you leave here even remotely close to how you were 4-5 years ago then you did it wrong. This time is the last time in a long time to focus on you and everything about you. Take that odd elective, learn that language, go on that study abroad (or two), pick up that instrument, and do all the rest with reckless abandon. “To live is to learn, and to learn is to live.” So don’t leave here without living.”
