Awesome seminar with Nathan “Carnage” Corbett! The 11-time Muay Thai World Champion delivered powerful instruction on elbow mastery, clinch work, footwork, and the mindset behind true warrior training.

Nathan broke down elite-level techniques with clarity and passion, leaving everyone, from beginners to fighters with new tools to elevate their game.

In some team sports, you have separate players for offense and defense, but in Muay Thai, you step into the ring alone, responsible for both your offense and defense. Early on, having a strong offensive game can take you far because many beginner opponents lack refined defensive skills. Aggressive combinations and sharp strikes can secure quick victories at the lower levels.

However, as you climb the ranks and face more experienced fighters, you’ll notice that everyone has solid defense. It becomes harder to land clean shots, and your offensive efforts may feel increasingly stifled. At this higher skill level, defensive ability often becomes the deciding factor between winning and losing. A strong defensive foundation allows you to neutralize your opponent’s attacks, conserve energy, and stay in the fight long enough to find openings for counterattacks or wear down your opponent for a late finish.

I know defense in Muay Thai, like blocking, evading, and checking kicks, may not seem as thrilling as landing devastating punches or head kicks. But investing time in honing your defensive skills early on will pay off significantly as you progress. A good defense not only keeps you safe but also sets up your offense, making you a complete and formidable fighter in the ring.

Beginning January 2023 every Friday, ONE will bring a weekly series of events to the historic Lumpinee Stadium! 52 events for 2023! These events will not be solely Muay Thai but will also feature kickboxing, mixed martial arts, and submission grappling. This partnership with the Royal Thai Army and One has made the world smaller and accessible for all to enjoy. 👏
